Living in a 34 year old townhome with 7 people, I deal with a fair share of annoyances…and I’m a relatively patient person (just don’t ask my kids or my husband their opinion on my patience level…).
Patience (or lack of it) aside, there are a few things around the house that set me off more than anything else, and around here it seems like at least ONE of the items on this list is happening on any given day.
Top 10 Things That Annoy Me At Home
Finding the toilet seat up OR the toilet seat down with pee all over it (the curse of living with boys!).- Discovering that no one replaced the empty roll of toilet paper…when it’s already too late.
- Having to listen to the chirp of the smoke detector while you’re trying to sleep (do the batteries ever run out during the day?).
- Missing socks (they HAVE to be somewhere in the house, right?!).
- Realizing that someone left the freezer or refrigerator door open….after a full night sleep.
- Finding all of the cabinet doors in the kitchen wide open (watch your head!).
- Disappearing keys.
- Ringing phones that you can’t find…or missing phones with the ringer turned off. Grr.
- Finding caked-on boogers on the wall. Yes, it happens more than I’d like to admit (though the frequency is going down now that the kids are getting older).
- Replacing lightbulbs that go out…constantly.
I’m not alone in being annoyed by these things, am I?

Smoke Alarm low-battery chirps – Annoying enough?
Are your smoke alarm low-battery warnings annoying enough? Sounds like a silly question to ask….but according to a survey of 1000 homeowners, Kidde found that many homeowners aren’t replacing their smoke alarm batteries often enough – even when that annoying chirp goes off (see below for specific details on what they discovered). A chirping smoke alarm is more than just a “home annoyance” – it’s a sign that batteries need to be replaced to keep your family and whole house safe from potentially deadly fires.
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) statistics indicate that the primary reasons smoke alarms fail to operate in home structure fires is a missing/disconnected battery (50%) and dead/discharged battery (23%).
This fall, Kidde has just launched a line of Worry-Free Smoke Alarms, which offer a variety of benefits to the millions of Americans who rely on continuous battery-powered smoke and fire detection in their homes. Not knowing enough about smoke alarms translates into not doing enough for fire protection.

Leaving Themselves Unsafe. So it may come as no surprise that more than six in ten (61%) have been known to leave their alarm without a working battery; 46 percent of these folks have let this task go for longer than a day.

I think my favorite feature would be the Decade of protection: sealed lithium battery provides 10 years of continuous power, most items house cheap batteries so knowing it is ten yrs of assurance is good

These are my favorite. You can reset the alarm once it has gone off. They operate 24 hours a day and especially at night when everyone is sleeping. I would love to have a set of these in my home!
