Easter 2015: We had a blast with the Pennsylvania cousins this past weekend. Lots of candy, lots of giggles, lots of good food.
On Easter Day, we drove over to the hill by the Hershey Gardens and had a fun (and windy) Easter Egg hunt. We missed having our oldest daughter there, since she’s off at college out of state. I really missed having her there to help stuff all of those Easter eggs (we do a LOT!).
Without further ado (because this IS Wordless Wednesday and I need to rush out the door to see Wicked in Baltimore…) here are a few shots of our fun time with family this weekend:

]]>I am typically too preoccupied with cooking and eating on Thanksgiving Day to take many pictures, but I happened to snap a few shot of my sister and a few of the kids.
I’m thankful for these guys.
There’s nothing like a good family Thanksgiving.

AJ and I had the brilliant idea to take an afternoon walk together before the other kids came home from school today. It was 26 degrees. I think I may prefer the warmth of the house, a cozy blanket, and a mug of hot chocolate…but it was still nice to spend some time with my boy!

I am so proud of Necco, my 15-year-old, and my 3 other “quartet daughters.” The girls’ quartet, Afterglow, was invited to perform at the Harvest of Harmony concert in Washington DC this weekend, and although we couldn’t take photos or video during the concert, I did capture a few videos and pictures after the concert was over. If you know anything about barbershop, you know that the real party starts once the formal concert is done.
The girls had a fantastic time getting to know Last Men Standing, who just won first place in the Barbershop Harmony Society’s competitive Mid-Atlantic District Convention about a week ago.
This is not a song that Afterglow quartet does, but most of the girls learned it in chorus at school, and they learned that Last Men Standing knew the song, too. They got together in the hall after the concert and sang it together, just for fun. This video is the song they sang together – with no practice, no coordination. It’s just a group of people who are passionate about singing and LOVE to do it.
And here’s a little preview of one of Afterglow’s songs from after the concert:
Afterglow is just starting their concert cycle this year, so expect lots more to come!

Trick or treating this year was a breeze for me. The teens went out together (yes, my 11, 13 and 15-year-olds still trick or treat!) and my husband took the 9-year-old out with a group of his friends from school.
I got to stay home with my mother-in-law, who was kind enough to answer the door and hand out candy while I got work done on my Chromebook. And eat candy.
This year’s costumes: AJ – werewolf, Reese – pretty witch, Necco – Doctor Who, and Twizzler – Air Force soldier. The extra person in the photos is my wonderful Mother in law!

While I was in LA on the #VeryBadDay press trip last month, our group of bloggers ate dinner at Tokyo Wako, where the famous restaurant scene from Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day was filmed. Although travel, accommodations and activities were included (including this dinner) all thoughts are my own.
You’ll have to excuse the quality of my photos. I was so tired at the end of my amazing press trip that I decided to leave my big bag inside the van and enjoy a dinner “disconnected.” Of course, I wasn’t able to resist the urge to take some pictures of the dinner and the ambiance. Although these photos were taken in horrible lighting, it’s still fun to look back on them. The dinner was incredible, the service was amazing, and the presentation was the best part of it all. I was pretty pleased with the company, too. After dinner, we were able to meet the real Tokyo Wako chef who threw the shrimp into Steve Carrel’s mouth. Those are some talented chefs!

My husband began a yearly tradition a few years ago. He spends one weekend in October doing an overnight biking and camping trip with one or more of the kids. This year, he took our 2 youngest kids on the biking adventure along the C&O Canal. While they only biked about 6 miles in and 6 miles back out, they had a blast. I sent them with an old iPod with a camera (I figured that would be lighter and easier to carry along than a camera) and was totally impressed by the pictures they captured on their bike ride.
What a beautiful area we live in and what a gorgeous time of year!
AJ (9) and Reese (11) joined Dad this year on the bike trail. They were so excited about their bike and camping trip. They had been talking about it for days. When the day finally came, they woke up early and rode their bikes around the neighborhood while Dad finished up packing and prepping for the camping trip. I think they’re already counting down the days til their next overnight biking trip!
PS – all of these pictures are unedited, straight from the iPod shots. They kind of make me want to tag along on their next ride…with a camera instead of a bike, of course!

While I was on my Los Angeles trip a few weeks ago, I was able to fulfill a life-long dream to visit Disneyland at Halloween Time. Disney gave us tickets to enjoy the day at Disneyland as part of our #VeryBadDayEvent | #DisneyAtHomeEvent. Although travel, accommodations, and activities were covered by Disney, all thoughts are my own.
Disneyland is magical place any time of the year, but it is even MORE magical at Halloween. Maybe it has something to do with earthy oranges and browns and reds and yellows – my favorite combinations of colors. #HalloweenTime was gorgeous to see and so much fun to experience.
Have you ever been to Disneyland at Halloween Time?

When we passed through Jackson Hole, Wyoming, this summer, 5 of the 7 of us went white water rafting on the Snake River (the other 2 of us went horse back riding, which I’ll be sharing very soon, I promise!). Everyone had a blast rafting. Although they couldn’t have cameras on the raft, I caught a few shots of the wet kids when they got back.
Have you ever been white water rafting?

When tickets for the Brad Paisley concert at Jiffy Lube Live in Virginia went on sale on Groupon a few weeks ago, I did something a little out of character. I bought tickets for the entire family.
The weather was perfect. The sky was clear. The bands were on fire. We danced and we sang our hearts out (and the kids were all happy that nobody else could ask them to be quiet!). We were exhausted by the end of the night, but we had SO. MUCH. FUN.
This was my second Brad Paisley concert, but the first live concert like this for all of the kids. What a family memory night!
