Instructions
  1. Paint each of your paint sticks with an even coat of green paint. Let dry. You can sand the edges or scuff up the paint a little with some sand paper once the paint has dried, if desired.
  2. Meanwhile, measure and cut your twine so that you have two equal lengths of twine - for 8 paint sticks, I used two 25 inch lengths of twine. Hold the twine together and tie two knots to designate the portion of the twine that you'll use to hang your project.
  3. Lay paint sticks side-by-side on the edge of a table or counter with a couple of inches hanging over the edge (alternate between the straight side and the side that has a groove - see pictures). Place a heavy cutting board or similar object over the other side of the paint sticks to hold them steady.
  4. Place one of your twine knots at the top of your row of paint sticks. Take ONE of the lengths of twine and weave it in front and in back of the sticks. Take the other length of twine and weave it the opposite way. Leave the ends loose and carefully turn the lined up paint sticks around so that the opposite ends are sticking over the edge now. Place the cutting board over the woven side to keep them in place. Repeat the weaving on the second side.
  5. When both sides have been woven, carefully tighten the twine, starting from the knotted end, and then secure with a simple knot at the bottom. I kept mine pretty tight. Glue the ends to the back of the board with hot glue.
  6. Using a hot glue gun, glue your letters on to your board. Hint: set them out to see how they'll fit before you start gluing them down.
  7. That's it! Your project is finished!
