While it seems counter-intuitive (not tired – go to bed later) it worked for the Little Man. We moved his bedtime up 1/2 hour and it was much better.

Also, kids need to eat with time after dinner to digest their food (can’t eat and go right to bed).

And of course, routine is key.

My new technique has nothing to do with bedtime and everything to do with bribery. My 5 year old daughter was just NOT sleeping. So I bargained with her and guess what it worked. I told her if she stayed in bed through the night she could have a friend over and she did and I am so happy!! Now I just need to get the 2 year old better so she’ll sleep and I will be good!

Those all work! I also didn’t give my kids sugar in the evening or anything that would make ’em hyper. I also used to put lavender sachets under the kids’ pillowcases as it’s a calming aroma.
