May I also suggest a goal setting system called GoalsOnTrack. It’s a web-based goal tracking and time management tool, with a very nice web 2.0 interface, and has many nice features to help you keep track of goals, and most importantly it lets you better organize daily todos towards achieving goals. Highly recommend it for serious goal achievers.

One of the things that I realized, though, is that a part of setting goals is to make sure your goals are realistic. The time frame as well as the goal itself needs to be something reachable. It’s always wonderful to reach for the stars, but when you’re setting goals, it’s important to stay realistic.

Teaching kids about goal setting is an entirely different story – it is so hard to be consistent and they have so many things pulling at their time and energy – that keeping them focused has become another goal of mine! ;-)
