.
My youngest son is obsessed with hot chocolate. One year, he received a box of hot chocolate mix for his birthday.
His birthday is in May.
He’s literally drooling over the hot chocolate options in this week’s party….

]]>My alarm goes off at 5:00am every morning, Monday through Friday. That’s life with a house full of teenagers who need Mom to wake them up to get ready for school. So when my alarm went off this morning at 5, I was pretty excited to see an email from the school district announcing a 2-hour delay due to icy roads. I set my next alarm for 7:00, and promptly fell back to sleep.
At 7, I checked my emails again. Sure enough, the school district had sent an update: school is cancelled! We have a SNOW DAY (with no snow on the ground. Go figure!).
Lazy days with no school call for baking projects with the kids! I’m currently brainstorming what we can make together today.
Last time we had a snow day, we made these delicious, can’t-stop-eating-them Oreo snowballs. I was kind of hoping that the kids (and my husband) wouldn’t like them as much as they did…so that I could claim more for myself. I suppose it’s a good thing that I was forced to share them.
My family loves our Oreo cookies, but the Oreo snowballs that we made were over-the-top amazing. These snowballs are WAY more fun than the cold kind we make outside…(and they taste better, too!). Don’t get me wrong. We love the snow, but we enjoy staying cozy and dry even more!
Did I mention that these require only 3 (possibly four) ingredients and that they are NO-BAKE?! Unless you are actually snowed in and can’t get to the store to buy ingredients, you really have no excuse.
Here’s how easy it is to make Oreo Snowballs:
1. Crush the Oreo cookies in a blender or for more hands-on involvement, place Oreos in a gallon size freezer bag and have the kids roll them into crumbles with a rolling pin.
2. Blend softened cream cheese into the crushed Oreos. You can also blend the two by placing both ingredients into a gallon size zip top bag and kneading the cream cheese into the Oreos. Kids love this!
3. Roll the Oreo-cream cheese mixture into balls (about a tablespoon each). Place your balls on a baking sheet covered with a sheet of wax paper.
4. Place your rolled balls into the freezer for at least 10 minutes.
5. Remove the Oreo balls from the freezer; melt your white chocolate according to package directions.
6. Dip each cookie ball in white chocolate. You can use your fingers, a spoon, two tooth picks…whatever works best for you to dip your Oreo balls. Place chocolate-covered balls on another sheet of wax paper and immediately sprinkle them with white sugar crystals – they dry fast!
7. As soon as the white chocolate has hardened, your snowballs are ready to eat!
What are your favorite things to do on snow days (or just run-of-the-mill days off of school)?

]]>Happy February! The “love month” is off to a great start at our house (mostly because my daughter made a big batch of chocolate chip cookies and chocolate=love in my book). I admit that this post was a little bit of a challenge for me to get through. I may or may not have gotten drool on my computer keyboard while I was getting this week’s chocolate recipes together!
I think that we each owe it to ourselves to try at least ONE of these recipes…
PS – I’ve got a SALE going on in my LuLaRoe shop! Help me clear out some inventory to make room for all of the new boxes of inventory coming in the next week! Shop HERE.

]]>Hi guys!
What a week! I’ve been working like crazy to prepare for my LuLaRoe business launch….and then I got sick last week. And on top of that, we started refinishing all of our banisters and painting our kitchen (which means that the cereal and sandwich fixings are in the family room, next to the piano, and the rice and sugar and spices are on the landing of the stairs).
It’s kind of chaotic around here. But, the kitchen is taking shape (it looks so pretty and bright!) and I got my official call from LuLaRoe and placed my first two orders. I can’t wait for the rest of my inventory to get here! I’m planning my Facebook launch for the weekend of February 17-18, so I hope to see you there!

]]>Early in our marriage (20 years ago or so), my husband and I found an enormous cookbook all about baking (in other words, it was full of cookies and cakes and breads and pies. Yum!). He started making Peanut Butter Blossoms (sometimes called Black-Eyed Susans or Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies) so long ago that I can’t remember a time when these weren’t his famous cookies.
I guess 20+ years IS a long time to be making the same recipe.
These cookies are my hubby’s signature treat, and everybody loves them. They really are the BEST peanut butter blossoms I’ve ever had! There’s something about the small cookie topped with a Hershey’s Kiss that is totally, completely addicting. I can never eat just one!
(Even though it would probably be better for me if I DID eat just one…)

]]>Oh, chocolate. I can’t get enough of you.
Lately, any time there’s some down time at home, my 10-year-old son BEGS me to make some cookies, but he always ONLY wants to make chocolate chip cookies.
Not that there’s anything wrong with chocolate chip cookies. They’re wonderful. Delicious. Chocolatey.
But there’s a whole other world of chocolate cookie goodness out there, and I’m dying for him to discover the beauty of trying something NEW.
I think I may have convinced him that there are other cookie options that are worth his attention after my friend shared this recipe with us.
The thing I love about these cookies is
1) they are so stinking easy. Like, they couldn’t be easier.
And 2) they are pretty much always soft and moist and delicious.
And they’re SO CHOCOLATEY. And they’re covered in powdered sugar. Really, they’re a kid’s dream. And a mom who has worked all day and just wants some chocolate already’s dream. Phew! That was a mouth-full. Try saying that a few times with a soft and chewy cookie in your mouth.

]]>Thank you TruMoo for sponsoring this post and triple chocolate waffles recipe! Try TruMoo in more delicious recipes this season!
Tis the time of year for hot chocolate, and I have a new favorite way to enjoy it. It’s the easiest, tastiest, creamiest hot chocolate ever – and all I have to do is heat up a mug of TruMoo chocolate milk. Seriously! You’ve got to try it! My youngest son is a hot chocolate fanatic, and it has passed his test. I love giving it to him because I know that he’s getting nutrition that he needs. Plus, TruMoo has NO artificial growth hormones*, NO high fructose corn syrup and a delicious taste kids (and adults!) love.
Because we’ve been enjoying TruMoo HOT this month, I figured it would be fun to use it in a hot breakfast recipe for Valentine’s Day (my favorite!). And what better to celebrate Valentine’s Day than chocolate and red berries?
The answer is…there is nothing better.
As picky as my son is about his hot chocolate, I’m pretty picky about my waffles. I was concerned before starting my recipe that these waffles not be too sweet or dense or dessert-like because I wanted them to be appropriate for a special breakfast. I was pleased that these waffles were light and fluffy, with just the right amount of chocolate and sugar. I had my husband test taste the very first waffle that came off the waffle iron, and he was so impressed that he immediately asked for another one.
Three chocolates (cocoa powder, TruMoo chocolate milk, and semi-sweet chocolate chips) combine to make the perfect chocolate waffle for a special breakfast treat!
The chocolate waffles are delicious enough on their own, but with the addition of a homemade raspberry sauce and TruMoo hot chocolate, this was a Valentine’s Day breakfast to die for!
Check out the quick flipagram video on Instagram I did while making this recipe (individual steps included)!
Have you ever tried TruMoo hot? For more delicious recipe ideas with TruMoo chocolate milk, check out hashtag #TryTruMooHot and visit TruMoo on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook.
*Note: No significant difference has been shown between milk derived from cows treated with the artificial growth hormone rbST and non-rbST-treated cows.

]]>Have you tried creating your own homemade bath products yet? You are definitely going to want to give this Chocolate Covered Strawberry Sugar Scrub a try right away, whether you’re a seasoned maker-of-homemade-bath-products or if you’ve never tried it before.
The only thing I love more than creating DIY beauty and body products is making them smell good enough to eat! While I wouldn’t recommend a big spoonful of this, it is much safer than any store bought version, it’s much cheaper to make, and so easy to put together you won’t believe it! Beyond one simple ingredient all you have to do is raid the pantry for a few supplies and you have a wonderful body scrub to keep or gift. Moms, friends, teachers – they will all love this deliciously scented easy spa treatment that they can do in the comfort of their own home.
Homemade sugar scrubs are the perfect way to soften and moisturize your skin in a snap; you can repeat this treatment in the shower several times a week for healthy glowing skin. After you use this chocolate covered strawberry sugar scrub, be sure to add a little whipped chocolate body butter. You’ll love the way your skin feels…and smells!
1 – Scoop out a generous amount onto damp skin, massage in a circular motion, rinse completely away, pat skin dry with a towel.
2 – Sugar scrub will be good stored for several months in an airtight container.
Here’s a simple label you can use for the top of your jar. I’ve included one graphic image, and there are 2 easy ways you can use this. First, save the image to your computer.
Option #1 is to go to Avery Design & Print Online and use their free templates program to print them off on their stickers. Just enter design #22807 in the “start a new project” box and then click go. That will bring you to a page of lots of templates. If you want to use my design, click on the blank white circle (the first “design” there) and click next again. You’ll then see a big “graphing” circle in the middle of the screen. Click on “images” on the left menu and upload this image. Drag it til it fits the entire space provided. Viola! You should see the design populating the entire sheet to the right. You can print them on Avery labels OR you can just print them on any paper. (get the Avery circle labels here)
Option #2 is to open up a word document and insert this image as a file into a blank document. You can add as many as you want on a sheet, dragging to make it your desired size. I would probably opt to print on card stock versus regular printer paper.
If those options sound too complicated, then you can always add a scrap of fabric under the rim of your mason jar or tie a simple ribbon around the lid. Instant present-ready!
