I had a hard time figuring out a St. Patrick’s Day craft to make this week, but I was determined that I would stick with the challenge! My 17-year-old daughter helped me brainstorm with some supplies I had on hand that I thought *could* be awesome for St. Patrick’s Day (namely a TON of green and clear flat-backed marbles). We came up with a super easy and fun St. Patrick’s Day necklace. I’m loving this St. Patrick’s Day-friendly homemade jewelry! Not only is it festive and green, but it has the added touch of showcasing a cool map of Ireland. I love maps, so this is something I would totally wear (regardless of the time of year!). I love that it’s festive without being overly “shamrocks and leprecauns.”

]]>When I was growing up, my Grandma Betty had a jewelry tree in her living room. It looked like a Christmas tree, but she kept it up year round. I loved that tree and spent many hours gazing at it.
When my Grandma passed away, my mom inherited the jewelry tree, and it now lives in my mom’s piano and dining room. I love that it is still part of my life.
I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of making my own tree before, but this year was finally time. Because I don’t have a collection of fancy jewelry like Grandma did, I opted to make my tree from small ornaments, both ornaments I’ve collected over the years and a handful of ornaments that I gathered during my Christmas shopping.
I was pleased with how easily my ornament tree came together, and even more pleased with how happy it makes me to see the tree hanging in my family room this Christmas. Whenever I see it, I think of Grandma and Grandpa. I can’t wait for it to become one of our new Christmas traditions.
Note: this post is not sponsored in any way, but I have included some Amazon affiliate links to some of the products I used.
The wonderful thing about this craft is that you can make it any size, color, or style you want.
1. Take the glass out of your frame and set aside. If your frame has a sturdy piece of cardboard already, taken that out to cover with felt. Otherwise, use the removed piece of glass to cut a piece of cardboard to fit the frame.
2. Use hot glue to solidly attach felt to the cardboard; make sure you leave extra felt to stretch around the back of the cardboard. Glue flaps securely to the back of the cardboard, as well.
3. Place the felt-covered cardboard back into the frame and replace the frame backing and attachments so that the felt is solidly in place.
4. If you’d like your tree to have a border, use a beaded necklace (the MardiGras necklaces at the Dollar Store worked great for this purpose!) to outline the shape of your tree. Use hot glue to glue the beads in place.
5. Glue down the tree trunk and star. Note: some thin plastic may melt when it comes in contact with hot glue. I had to try again with a second star.
6. Starting at any of the corners of the tree, start gluing down one ornament at a time. I used small silver bells to fill in gaps between larger ornaments. Keep going until the entire tree surface is filled.
That’s it! Hang your ornament tree and enjoy a beautiful Christmas decoration all season long and for years to come.

I love this time of year! Although this native California girl would be happy to live in a warmer, snow-free state the rest of her life, I admit that I love the way fresh-fallen snow looks. Snow is pretty inevitable in Maryland during the winter, so I should probably just embrace it.
I DID have a lot of fun creating these little wintery scene Christmas cloche candle holders this week. They are the perfect reminder to me that snow can be beautiful and peaceful and festive (and not only cold, messy, and slippery!).
I couldn’t have made these easy Christmas cloche candle holders without the help of Gorilla hot glue sticks! They were the perfect tool to create my fun little craft. We use hot glue for lots of projects around the house, but I must say that I was surprised at how quickly and easily these cloches came together. Each cloche took about 10 minutes to create, start to finish! I was thrilled with how the finished Christmas cloche candle holders turned out.
You’ll be amazed at how easy these were to make! I picked up some cheap stemmed glasses and a few other supplies, and my project was done in about 30 minutes, start to finish!
Supplies Needed:
1. Turn each glass upside down and trace the shape with a pencil on your piece of cardboard; cut out the circles. Lay out “winter scenes” with trees and figures to see what will fit best inside each over-turned glass.
2. Use Gorilla hot glue sticks and your hot glue gun to attach your trees and figures to the cardboard circles.
3. Fill each upturned glass with a small amount of fake snow.
4. With the “scenes” sitting on a flat surface very close to the corresponding glass, run a consistent bead of hot glue along the entire circle. Quickly and carefully turn it upside down and place on top of the matching glass, Press gently but firmly so that cardboard circle adheres to the glass. Run another bead of hot glue around the outside of the glass where the cardboard and the lip of the glass meet. Let dry upside down.
5. Repeat for the remaining glasses. Allow the glue to cool completely before turning the glasses upside down (your cute winter scene will now be right side up!). Shake gently so that the fake snow falls to the “ground” of your cloche.
6. Place a candle on the base of each overturned glass. Enjoy!

This summer has been hot, hot, hot! So when we’re not at the pool, we’re looking for projects that we can work on inside, where we can stay out of the sun and the heat. This week, a few of my kids and I worked on our very first fairy garden. We’ve seen fairy gardens all over Pinterest, but we’ve never made one ourselves. We are hooked!
We gathered lots of supplies and set up our little fairy workshop on the kitchen table, where we created our own fairy garden over a couple of days. Our best tools for making our fairy garden? A pair of scissors and a bottle of Gorilla Super Glue with TWO ways to dispense. I’ve used Gorilla Glue before, but the Gorilla Super Glue Brush & Nozzle was so easy to use and left virtually no mess. I can’t say the same for the rest of the table!
About Gorilla Super Glue Brush & Nozzle: this new package features a fine bristle brush that offers controlled coverage and the precision tip nozzle for quick, easy dispensing. The brush tip was perfect for gluing sticks together to make the fairy house, and the precision tip nozzle was ideal for larger areas, like attaching pebbles to the mason jar lid pond (so that I could act quickly!).
I love that both methods of applying the Gorilla Glue dried fast and held tight. Gorilla glue is perfect for wood, metal, ceramic (but not anything that would go in a dish washer), rubber, leather, paper and some plastics. The brush is ideal for edge to edge coverage and the nozzle is ideal for precision application. I used both applicators for our fairy garden.
The best thing about making your own fairy garden is that the only limitation is your imagination. You can get supplies and at the store or in your own backyard (we did a little of both). Note: Gorilla glue can be purchased at hardware and home center stores nationwide.
Supplies Needed:
Directions:
Use Gorilla glue brush applicator to apply glue to the tip of a wood bead. Attach a large button on top and hold in place until secure. Draw dots on the top of your button to make mushroom spotted.

]]>HI GUYS!
Need a last-minute Valentine’s Day gift? My daughter made these “52 Things I Love About You” cards for her fiancé and sent the pictures over to me so that I could share her fun DIY Valentine’s Day gift. Because let’s face it….there are a LOT of us out there who need some help when it comes to Valentine’s Day gifts.
Also…
My daughter has a fiancé.
Did you catch that?
My daughter is getting married. In April. I’m excited and happy and terrified and in shock all at the same time (only because I am simply not old enough to have a married child, right?? Please just agree with me here).
Honestly, I really AM excited. She is happy. He is wonderful. What more could a mom ask?
Kim shared this easy craft with me just in case there were others of you out there who might need a little assistance this weekend. I love that it uses stuff that most of us have lying around the house (I know we’ve got a bunch of playing cards sitting around ALL over the house (my 10-year-old is currently into “card throwing.” I never knew it was a THING until he started throwing cards at my old foam boards. So…maybe I have too many cards lying around. Hmm…
Supplies Needed:

How to Assemble Your Gift:
That’s it!
This DIY gift costs less than $10 (and even LESS than that if you’ve already got the supplies on hand).
Happy Valentine’s Day! I want to hear ALL about it after the weekend. Deal?

]]>Looking for a paint stick craft for St. Patrick’s Day? It’s your LUCKY day!
Way back in December, a friend of mine gave me a bunch of paint sticks – you know the 12-inch paint stirrers you can get by the handful in the pain section of your local hardware store? She had picked up more than she needed for a craft she was doing for Christmas, and didn’t want to hold on to them any more, so she passed them on to me. It took me 2 months to figure out a project to use them on, and even then I really struggled to figure out how to make something I liked. This project went through several stages, but once I looped my husband into the madness and we were able to brainstorm together it all came together, and I was so happy with how it turned out.
OK, I fear that I’m not going to explain these steps very well, but I assure you – this project is SO easy! It basically consists of painting the sticks, weaving them together with twine and gluing the letters on top of the sticks. Seriously easy (for some reason, writing out the steps made it seem so much more complicated than it is!
Before I start with the steps, I have to tell you the crazy process I went through to figure out how I wanted my final product to look. I tried several different designs (starting out with a wall hanging that was 12 paint sticks tall, drawing a message on one of the sticks with a Sharpie, cutting out a cute shamrock, and more) but it finally came together when my husband and I played around with the supplies that I had on hand.
Here’s what you need to get started (most of these supplies were things we had on hand. PS – I used Amazon affiliate links to link to some of the products below):
Note: It’s important for the design of this project that you use paint stirrers that have the groove on one side (kind of like a handle). The alternating groove helps the twine have somewhere to rest and hold it all together.
Ready to see how you go from this….
…to the finished craft? Continue reading to see the step-by-step instructions (including printable instructions):

My crafty friend, Lisa, is at it again! I am constantly amazed by the clever and easy craft ideas that she sends my way. Not only did she send me a fun tutorial for making a DIY clay pendant (with an antiqued look that I love!), but she gave me the finished pendant to keep.
I was at Michaels yesterday picking up some clay for one daughter’s middle school project and some stuffing for a pillow that another daughter crocheted over the weekend, and I spent several minutes looking at the different colors of sculpey clay and imagining all of the things I could make. I never guessed that it could be so easy to make something so beautiful (and honestly, so not-homemade-looking!) with clay.
Here’s what you need to get started:
Look around the house for some fun possibilities to “stamp” on the clay. A drawer handle, a button, ornate key, etc…
Roll Sculpey into a ball. This one is just under an inch.
With a bowl or plate, squish the ball down flat. The more pressure you use, the flatter it will be.
If it isn’t all thin as you want it, press again then carefully pull it off the bottom.
Press item you want to “stamp” onto pendant gently onto the clay.
For the embossing template, I used a stylus to help push down on the small sections. Careful! Sometimes the point slips off. The good news is that you can start all over again if you mess up!
Punch a hole on the top before baking.
Read the directions of the back of the box for cooking temps and time.
After the pendant has baked and cooled, cover the top with brown paint.
Before it dries, wipe off the paint with a damp cloth.
Tie on cord.
Wear with pride!
That’s it! Don’t you love how simple that is? What design would you like to make on a clay pendant like this?

When I was little, my mom would sing the song “I love you, a bushel and a peck” to me nearly every night. The song and its words came to signify a mother’s love for her kids…and I LOVE my kids!
—->GET THE Bushel and a Peck Printable
I love you, a bushel and a peck
A bushel and a peck, and a hug around the neck
A hug around the neck, and a barrel and a heap
A barrel and a heap, and I’m talkin’ in my sleep
About you, about you…cuz
I love you, a bushel and a peck
You bet your pretty neck I do!
A-do-do-do-do-do-do, do-do-do-do-do-do, do-do-do-do-do-do
Just the other day, after making this simple little craft (or non-craft, as I like to call it), my youngest son AJ and I went on a walk and sang this at the top of our lungs as we walked around the neighborhood. Now this little wall hanging resides next to my fridge and we sing it to each other daily. I love that a simple craft resurrected an old tradition.
When I made this wall hanging, I used some old scrapbook paper and stickers, but I’ve made it easy for you. All you need to do is print off the scan of my project HERE and slap it in a frame! When you print, make sure to download the PDF version for the highest quality. If you’d rather have the jpeg version, I’ve got that HERE. The PDF has a white border around 2 of the edges which should ensure that the framable image prints out to fit an 8×10 frame. Feel free to resize if you’ve got a smaller frame!
If you’d like to make your own version of this wall hanging, all you need is a frame, some paper (cut to fit your frame), and some letter stickers (plus accent stickers, if desired).
It’s a pretty simple “non-craft” to put together, but be sure to measure out the space you have for each word before starting lay the stickers out. You don’t want to run out of room!
Did your mom sing “love songs” to you when you were little? Do you sing to your kids?
PS – be sure to check out my “I love you because…..” dry erase craft and keep your eye open for my FAVORITE Valentine’s Day craft of all, coming soon!

I’m not the craftiest person out there, but I do love to get creative, especially during the summer when I need to find more ways to keep the kids occupied out of the heat of the summer sun.
This summer, I participated in Skip to My Lou’s Summer Craft Camp for Kids for the 5th year in a row. It’s a challenge for me to come up with something kid-friendly and fun each year, but it’s a challenge I look forward to as we enter summer.
Since my family will be leaving on a very long cross-country road trip in a matter of days, I thought that now would be the perfect time to share this summer’s craft camp project. And since I’m all about the pictures, what better craft than a personalized picture frame?
This easy frame craft is appropriate for multiple ages – just gather a bunch of supplies and let everyone decorate as they desire. Kids may need some help applying Mod Podge evenly.
Step 1: Gather supplies (make sure to cover your work surface when using Mod Podge)
Step 2: If decorating your frame with patterned paper, trace the frame on the back side of the paper you want to use. Carefully cut it out.
Step 3: Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge onto the frame and lay paper down. Press firmly but gently so that paper is flat and no air bubbles appear.
Step 4: Decorate frame with stickers, buttons, ribbons, etc. Buttons can be applied using Mod Podge. Apply an even layer of Mod Podge over the entire frame (front and sides) and let dry for 30 minutes.
Step 5: Apply an additional layer of Mod Podge over the entire frame and let dry.
That’s it! For just a couple of dollars, you can have a fun, homemade memory of all the fun you have this summer. After the summer is over, these frames would be perfect for personalized gifts for parents, teachers, grandparents, and friends. Just match the stickers and decorations to the occasion!
The second frame that I made ended up being my favorite – I found state license plate stickers and placed them all the way around the frame…and then all of the kids begged me to let them have it!
This craft was originally published at Skip to my Lou in June. Check out my previous craft camp projects: How to make a no-sew t-shirt bag, easy crochet headband, picture-to-puzzle craft, and easy paper kites.

Who is ready for easy Spring crafts for kids?
My crafting friend, Lisa, made these fun, super-easy dry erase photo cards for one of her kids recently and the whole family had such a blast drawing funny faces on family members that she knew she needed to share. I am dying of the cuteness!
How fun would these little laminated photo cards be inside your kids’ Easter baskets? They are a perfect non-candy Easter treat that will provide hours of entertainment.
It’s so easy to make these! Just take a photo of your child, print it on quality paper, laminate it, and have loads of fun drawing, erasing, drawing and erasing again and again with a dry eraser marker and a piece of dark felt.
