.
The holidays may be over, but I am still enjoying the classic scents and flavors of the winter. In fact, I have a pot of orange, lime, cranberry, and cinnamon stick potpourri simmering on top of my wood stove as we speak.
I had this recipe post all set to share before Christmas, but I’ve been having some pretty major website issues. My site was finally successfully migrated to a new host, and for the first time in months I can upload photos to my site, log in without using a backdoor trick I figured out….it’s a happy day!
Ok, now on to that recipe I wanted to share with you guys over a month ago! Luckily, delicious breakfast recipes don’t have a “season,” right?
2 cups fresh cranberries
1/4 cup orange juice
1 cup sugar, divided
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp kosher salt, divided
4 tbsp butter, melted
2 cup whole milk
3 large eggs, slightly beaten
zest from 1 large orange
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 Loaf of day-old Challah bread, cubed
1. Spray a 7inch springform pan with nonstick baking spray
2. Cover the bottom with parchment paper
3. Using a medium sauce pan, bring cranberries, orange juice, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon salt to a boil in a saucepan over medium-high heat.
4. Cook until the berries have popped and thickened slightly about 5 minutes. Remove from heat
5. Pour the cranberries into the springform pan
6. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and 1/2 cup sugar.
7. Add milk, beaten eggs, orange zest, vanilla, and salt. Mix in cubed bread.
8. Let rest until the bread absorbs the milk, stirring occasionally.
9. Spread bread mixture on top of cranberry sauce in pan.
10. Pour 1 cup water into the pressure cooker pot and place the trivet in the bottom.
11. Cover springform pan with foil and place on top of the trivet.
12. Lock the lid in place. Select High Pressure and set the timer for 25 minutes. When beep sounds, turn off pressure cooker, and do a quick pressure release to release the pressure.
13. When valve drops carefully remove lid.
14. Remove dish from and place onto the counter to cool completely.
15. Top with whipped cream and serve warm. Enjoy!

]]>Merry Christmas!
The traditional Christmas morning picture in front of the tree has been taken, and the kids are looking SO much older!
The presents have been opened and played with all day.
The Christmas dinner has been cooked and eaten.
It’s just about time to transition from Christmas decorations and music and all of the excitement of the season back to regular life.
But in the mean time, it’s still the holiday break and all of the Delicious Dishes hosts are enjoying time with our families, so we’re taking the next 2 weeks a little slower than usual. We don’t have a new link up today. And this week, instead of each of us choosing one of our favorite submitted recipes, we’ve each picked a favorite recipe from our own sites. Strangely enough, we all chose CAKES, so you get to enjoy each of our favorite cake recipes!
Happy holidays!
These cakes are great for any occasion – holidays, parties, dessert night, birthdays – you name it! Which cake looks most tempting to you?
My favorite: Sprite Bundt Cake with Lemon Frosting from Food Fun Family
Lois’s favorite: Chocolate Brownie Cake with Homemade Ganache from Walking on Sunshine Recipes
Brett’s favorite: Coffee Cake with Coffee Glaze from This Mama Loves
Keri Lyn’s favorite: Brown Sugar Bundt Cake from She Saved
Emily’s favorite: Apple Pudding Cake with Butter Cream Sauce from Clever Housewife
Mary’s favorite: White Texas Sheet Cake from Bunny’s Warm Oven
Follow us along on our Pinterest board. We pin a ton of recipes that are shared to our linky party each week.
We’ll see you back for our regularly scheduled Tuesday linky parties after the New Year!
In the mean time, share with me in the comments some of your favorite Christmas traditions or something special about your holiday this year. I hope you had a wonderful time with family and friends. I hope you know how much I appreciate each time you visit my blog!

]]>My family and I were invited on an expense-paid FAM trip at Great Wolf Lodge Williamsburg at the beginning of the month. Although our accommodations and activities were covered, all thoughts are our own. I’m happy to answer any questions about staying at Great Wolf Lodge – there were so many things that didn’t make it into the post (I could just go on and on!).
I’ve always been curious about Great Wolf Lodge, but we’ve typically been the type of family that takes vacations to visit family and friends out of state. Somehow we just never made it to Great Wolf Lodge, which is just a couple of hours south of us in Williamsburg, Virginia. Now that we’ve experienced Great Wolf Lodge, we are counting the days til we can go back. It was an unexpected hit with the whole family!
I was initially worried that my kids would be a little too old to appreciate Great Wolf Lodge (my last 3 kids at home are 13, 15, and 17), but I was surprised to discover that there are a ton of engaging activities for kids of ALL ages.
We stayed in a standard family suite, which sleeps up to 6 comfortably (it’s so hard to find a good hotel room for bigger families, but this was perfect for us!), but there are a host of amazing options for families of all sizes and needs, like upgraded themed suites with bunk beds and fun decor!
From the moment we walked into the lodge, we were transported into a winter wonderland. The atmosphere was delightful! Great Wolf Lodge has four seasonal themes each year, corresponding to the four seasons: Spring-a-palooza, Summer Fun in the Sun, Howl-o-ween, and Snowland.
I can’t wait to experience all four seasons at the Lodge!
We spoke with the director of guest services and found out that staff decorated the lodge for Snowland for about 9 days. They have 30 trees in the property, and 20 of them were new this year. It even “snows” every night in the main lobby. It is simply magical!
Santa makes an appearance every night between December 7th and the 25th and is available to take pictures with guests each night. Bonus: photos are complementary for guests and they are happy to snap pictures with your phone or camera for you!
Another fun winter season treat: you can get warm cookies and milk delivered to your room at night!
Year round, there are 10-20 activities available for guests of all ages each day, from morning yoga to story time at night, from dance parties and character appearances to arts and crafts. Activities are a little heavier on the weekends, but weekdays are still full of fun.
We enjoyed bowling, hours of fun at the 24-hour arcade, sharing cups of candy from the candy shop, and just hanging out together. We highly recommend the Paw Passes to get the best value for the paid activities like bowling, MagiQuest, miniature golfing, the rope course, etc.
My personal favorite activity was my 30-minute deep-tissue massage in the spa (they’ve got a kids’ spa, too!). I had the best, most relaxing massage of my life!
MagiQuest was a surprise hit for all three of my teens. We started our first afternoon off with a visit to the MagiQuest store, where they each picked out a wand, and chose a “magical” name to register and activate their account. The great news – they can bring their wands back to Great Wolf Lodge each time we visit again and only have to pay to activate a new game.
MagiQuest is an interactive game that sends kids exploring all over the hotel (there are stations on three floors). Kids can run from station to station on quests, interacting with things throughout the hotel and earning points along the way. All three of my kids agreed that MagiQuest was both fun and a great workout! Throughout the day, you’ll find kids thoroughly engaged in completing quests and gathering coins. It is nearly as popular as the waterpark with the older kids!
Great Wolf Lodge purchased the rights to MagiQuest so the game is ONLY available at Great Wolf Lodge. They release four to five new quests each year, so you can have a totally new game experience each time you visit.
The enormous indoor waterpark is one of Great Wolf Lodge’s biggest attractions. No matter how cold it gets outside, it’s a comfortable 84 degrees in the waterpark. The slides were so much fun (we even got on one ride with all 5 of us together on a raft!) and we were sad when we had to end our day at the park. We could have used several more hours of water play time!
My husband could not stop talking about the French toast at the breakfast buffet in the main restaurant. He said it was the best French toast we had ever had. The dinner buffet was equally as enjoyable, with a huge variety of delicious foods. We also enjoyed a casual pizza night in our room while we watched a movie and had a burger and fries lunch while we were hanging out at the waterpark.
There are seven restaurants on the property, and there’s always something delicious to satisfy your cravings.
Starting in mid-January through the second half of March 2019, Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg will be undergoing a 20 million dollar renovation project, including all guest rooms and public places. The lodge will still be open during the renovations and guests will not be impacted. I can’t wait to see how they redecorate the 405 suites!

Have you been to a Great Wolf Lodge? Our family highly recommends it as a fun family getaway. You can check in and never leave the hotel until you’re ready to head back home! Find out more and book your stay at Greatwolf.com/williamsburg

]]>My house is decorated for Christmas.
Presents have been purchased (still so much shopping to do! 17-year-old boys are hard to shop for!).
The first batch of Grandma’s English Toffee has been made, shared, and finished.
Christmas music has been playing non-stop on my Alexa.
My daughter who’s off at college thousands of miles away will be home in exactly one week.
There’s no denying that the holidays are in full swing.
Who’s ready for some more delicious Christmas treats? We saw so many fun holiday goodies in last week’s party that we had to share some of our favorites!

]]>I feel like I’ve spent the last week in the kitchen.
Oh, wait. I have. Two full Thanksgiving feasts, plus one mini Thanksgiving. Plus one “what was I thinking trying to make homemade empanadas on a Monday night?”
I do love Thanksgiving foods, so it’s not all bad.
This week, we’re moving on from Thanksgiving dinner and exploring appetizer recipes that are perfect for all of your holiday parties and get-togethers. These recipes will shine!

]]>This post has been sponsored by SheSpeaks, Inc. and The Coca-Cola Company. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I love the holidays. All of them. I love finding the perfect gifts for my family and friends. I love decorating my house (despite the fact that I’m challenged in the home decor department). I LOVE baking. And I love hosting big gatherings for family and friends.
The fall to winter season makes me happy…in all ways except for one. Holiday shopping crowds give me a headache. Even when I’m heading to the store for something as simple as sodas and bread (which, for a family like mine is something we need to restock every few days), the lines and the crowds can be overwhelming. As far as the holiday spirit goes, crowds are a buzz killer for me.
I’ve tried all sorts of things to make my life easier and less stressful, especially around the holidays. I’ve tried shopping early in the season or during less busy hours. I’ve made well-planned and detailed shopping lists so that I could reduce the number and length of trips out. But hiccups seem to always happen to even the best-made plans.
As we enter another holiday season, I’ve discovered my new favorite holiday helper: Club Pickup at Sam’s Club. Now, whether I need to shop for gifts, stock up on soda or lunch snacks, or re-fill our kitchen essentials like bread, I can order online and pick all of my items up at Sam’s Club – for no extra charge. Club Pickup is free for all Sam’s Club members! That means a full cart with no lines and a lot less time out of my busy schedule. And THAT means more time to spend in the kitchen making my famous caramels and toffee and cookies!
Here’s how Club Pickup works: I shop online or on my Sam’s Club app. A Sam’s Club employee does the shopping for me. I get a notice when my order is ready for pick up, and I drive over to the club. I can either pick up my order inside or just drive my car up to the Club Pickup area. I check in on my Sam’s Club app and they’ll bring my items out to my car for me. This is an especially handy feature when you’re shopping for heavier items like cases of Coca-Cola® products for the party you’re hosting.
This past week, I used Club Pickup at Sam’s Club for the first time and was blown away. Not only did I get to spend my time preparing a nice dinner for the family instead of standing in a line, but I was able to take advantage of Sam’s Clubs’ awesome value on my favorite Coca-Cola® products, like Coca-Cola® Mini Cans and Sprite® Mini Cans, Dasani® Bottled Water, Gold Peak® Sweet Tea, and Diet Coke®.
I’m definitely going to appreciate Club Pickup when it’s snowing outside and I’m rushing to get back home to host a big dinner for family and friends. On second thought, I think I’ll send my husband or son out to do the Club Pickup run for me while I stay at home to cook (and sip on my ice-cold Coca-Cola®). Learn more about these products at Sam’s Club here.
What will Club Pickup at Sam’s Club help YOU do (instead of standing in line) this holiday season?

]]>Although it is exhausting, cooking a huge Thanksgiving dinner for family and friends is something that I look forward to all year long.
I do enjoy the turkey, but it’s really the side dishes and desserts that MAKE the feast. Our Thanksgiving sides have changed as our family has gotten older. Now, we tend to serve Brussels sprouts with bacon and candied yams (which I never liked before!) versus stuffing and green beans. Shocker, I know.
What are your favorite side dishes to serve (and eat!) on Thanksgiving?

]]>How did we end up in the second half of October? And how is Halloween right around the corner? Didn’t we just start the new school year?
It’s finally cooling down around here – I’ve broken out the boots and sweaters, and I’m adding blankets to my bed at night to stay warm. I’m loving it (but that doesn’t mean I’m ready for winter to come quite yet…or ever!).
This week, we noticed lots of fun, tasty, and easy Halloween treats shared at recent parties. I need to make ALL of these! Check out the fun and festive fall recipes we’re featuring from YOU this week…
