.
It has been a while since I’ve entered a photo in an I Heart Faces challenge. But today, I felt compelled to enter the Back to School photo challenge. I had one particular photo in mind from the first day of school 2008. I searched for the picture only to discover that it is one of the sets of images that I’ve lost. Luckily, I have those lost images on my blog and saved elsewhere online, but the image quality is very poor.
Situations like these make me wish that I had backed up all my files more carefully.
Luckily, we have a first day of school every August, and with 5 kids heading back to school each year, we’ve got plenty of shots to chose from (they just aren’t THE shot I was hoping for).
Although this is not a stellar shot creatively or technically, I still love it because it illustrates how excited my elementary school kids were to start school again this year.

And let me just stress the importance, once again, to back up your files!

]]>While I am attempting to have a very productive day, getting MANY other posts ready to publish, photos edited, shopping done, and exercise accomplished, I thought I’d post a quick I Heart Faces post. This week’s theme is PROPS and this coal bucket is one of my current favorite newborn props.

I can’t wait to get some prop ideas from other I Heart Faces participants this week!

]]>The kids and I took a quick trip down to Norfolk, Virginia this past weekend to celebrate my brother in law and new sister in law’s recent wedding (the wedding I attended in Costa Rica). After 15 or so hours in the car with 5 kids I am even more ready for my trip to Type-A Conference this week.
I’ve got lots of pictures to share….soon. But for now, here’s my favorite photo of the trip which is perfect for I Heart Faces’ “Let’s hear it for the boys” theme this week.

]]>I would rather be heading to San Antonio this week to get together with Angie and Amy at the I Heart Faces Dream Big Workshop….but I’m still here. Working, dealing with recovering sick kids (and dreading having to go back to the doctor for a fifth time tomorrow with yet another child….). It’s perfect that this week’s I Heart Faces theme is nice and easy–flowers. And no faces.

Wish me luck with getting the illnesses out of our house for good!

I hope all of you had a wonderful Mother’s Day as well (and if you didn’t….I’ve been there, too!)

]]>Slice of Life: Candid. A glimpse into a moment of life. Real.
This was one of my favorite “people pictures” from my Girl’s Photography Retreat with Adobe last month. This is what you get when you gather a bunch of photographers together and set them loose on a city like San Francisco. Lots of pictures, and lots of oohs and ahhs over friends’ captures.
See how other bloggers have interpreted the “Slice of Life” theme on I Heart Faces this week!

]]>This is Angie and Amy’s week off at I Heart Faces, so the photo challenge is a little more open. The only requirements: the photo must have a face in it, and it must have been taken during February 2011. This picture of Reese at the park fits the bill….
By the way–this little Miss turns 8 on Friday!!
I hope you’ll go check out the other entries this week. Voting starts on Tuesday night – you can vote for mine (#157) while you’re there!
The I Heart Faces button is here, I swear (just seems to be having troubles showing up. Shy, perhaps?)

]]>This week’s photo challenge at I Heart Faces is anything BUT a face. I scoured through my photos, looked at lots of little kid hands and feet, and finally settled on this picture. I love this shot from one of my all time favorite photo shoots ever.
And, honestly, I was grateful to find something easy and quick to publish tonight. I am sick!

]]>I’ve only scratched the surface of my trip to San Francisco with Adobe, and you can be sure that many more photos are coming. As I was skimming through photos this morning, I realized that the Golden Gate Bridge shots would be perfect for this week’s RED theme on I Heart Faces. Because everyone knows that the Golden Gate bridge is not really golden…..right?
This is one of the fabulous Adobe Girls that brought me and 8 other photographers out to San Francisco for a few days of intense shooting, learning, and girl-talk.
Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! May you see lots of red things today (particularly red heart-shaped boxes of chocolates…)!

]]>As much as mother could love a child, I love this little boy. I adore him.
I smother him with kisses every day, and he reciprocates. Often more than I might prefer. I can count on finding him asleep in my bed when I wake up in the mornings a few times a week. Yesterday, he asked me frankly why he couldn’t take “Mommy baths” anymore. I told him he was too old to take baths with me. His answer? “No, Mommy, I’m not too old. You’re too old.”
He drives me crazy with his demands, and his habit of baby talk makes me cringe. But his talents for remembering details and his successes at school make me glow with pride. I love that he still likes to snuggle with me, hold my hand, and tell me he loves me. All the time.
I will readily admit that he is a classic last child. Spoiled, pampered, and adored by everyone.
I am going to miss him this week while I’m in San Francisco with Adobe. I can’t wait to tell you all about my trip, show off pictures from my photowalk through the City, and share all of the knowledge that I gain from sitting at Lightroom guru’s feet for a weekend.
This week’s theme at I Heart Faces is…HEARTS! AJ was the perfect subject for this hearty theme. Check out the other entries on I Heart Faces!

PS – I just started a discussion in the CoffeeTalk BlogFrog community about whether or not you (and I) treat the youngest child any differently from the rest. I’d love it if you chimed in!
