Oh, ice cream! I admit my relationship with you is probably not too healthy, but I do love you so.
I think the hardest part about this week’s host favorites collection was wiping the drool off my keyboard while I was making the pinnable collage.
Summer is definitely the perfect time for making and eating ice cream treats. Just remember to eat them fast before they melt (or before they get eaten by your family and friends).

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Breyers. All opinions are 100% mine.
I have a new favorite ice cream treat – a treat that included a few simple ingredients that I never would have thought to put together but wowed both me and my husband when I did.
I’m an ice cream lover. My whole family loves it, in fact. We’re typically fairly boring when it comes to ice cream, just eating it scooped straight from the container. Or on top of a slice of pie. Or next to a piece of cake. (Really, is there a bad way to eat good ice cream?)
When our kids were younger and our kitchen table was smaller, we had a small couch in the kitchen, which we lovingly referred to as the “ice cream couch.” The ice cream couch was the perfect place to lounge around after a meal, and we’d often grab a bowl of ice cream and chat about our day as we winded down for the night. We made many happy memories on that ice cream couch.
We may not have the ice cream couch any longer, but we still enjoy relaxing with some dessert together in the evenings.
Breyers® has partnered with Chef Antonia Lofaso to create 5 fun, family-friendly recipes featuring Natural Vanilla to encourage family moments together. I looked through Chef Antonia Lofaso’s recipes and was drawn to the simple recipe for banana pudding and decided to give it a try this week.
Check out all of Chef Antonia Lofaso’s ice cream recipes:
Ingredients
Instructions

Sprinkle banana slices with turbinado sugar.

Melt butter in a small nonstick skillet and sauté bananas.

Scoop Breyers® Natural Vanilla Ice Cream into a small wide rimmed glass. Then wedge 2 cookies on either side and top with sautéed bananas.
What I learned: the banana slices cook best on high heat for a very short amount of time. The high heat allows the turbinado sugar to caramelize just right.
If you put your banana slices onto your ice cream straight from the pan, your ice cream will melt. And although that’s a challenge for pictures, I actually loved how it tasted with the top layer slightly melty.
I will be making this easy dessert again. And again. It was delicious!

Note: I received a package of Birthday-themed ice cream treats so that my family could celebrate Wells’ 100th birthday, but no monetary compensation was received. All opinions are my own.

A 100th birthday is no small event. Definitely party-worthy.
This year, Well Enterprises, the makers of Blue Bunny ice cream, is celebrating its 100th birthday!
In addition to adding new ice cream flavors and exciting new frozen treats, to celebrate this milestone, Blue Bunny has kicked off the 100 Years, 100 Wishes program.
100 Year, 100 Wishes is an alliance between Well Enterprises and Make-A-Wish Foundation to grant 100 wishes to 100 kids with life-threatening medical conditions.
In addition to the wish-granting, Wells is asking customers to join them in signing a Wish Card with well-wishes and notes of encouragement for the kids in the program. The Wish Card will be delivered to each child in the program on October 24, 2013 – Wells’ 100th birthday.
The very first wish granted as part of the 100 Years, 100 Wishes program was 4 year old Kajj’s wish to be a “cop officer”. Interestingly, Kajj’s wish is reminiscent of the first wish ever granted by Make-A-Wish which was to be a police officer. Kajj was diagnosed with a life-threatening tumor (Wilm’s Tumor) and his wish story can be found at bluebunny.com/wishes/wish-details/kajj.

Another one of the wishes already granted was for a 5 year old girl named Sarah, in the Mid-Atlantic Chapter that serves Delaware, DC, Maryland and the Northern Virginia area (my area!). Sarah, who suffers from a life-threatening neurological disorder, had a wish to have a mobility tracking system in her home – a wish that would give her independence and pride. Read about Sarah’s wish-granting at bluebunny.com/wishes/wish-details/sarah
You can sign the Wish Card at 100Years100Wishes.com… and while you’re on the site you can also read stories and see photos and videos of each of the wishes granted so far.
If you were celebrating YOUR 100th birthday, how would you celebrate?!

]]>Reese turned 10 last month. We had to wait for a few weeks after her birthday to have her party, but it was worth the wait.
Reese is at such a funny age – that in-between stage where she stops being a little girl and starts becoming a young woman. It’s kind of driving me crazy that my little girl – my youngest daughter – is entering the tween years. And getting clothes and earrings and One Direction presents for her birthday.
By the way, you may notice that Reese is wearing a Halloween shirt in some of the pictures and a perry shirt in others. She changed. And, yes, she wore a Halloween shirt at her end-of-March birthday party to go along with her Monster High party theme.
The week before the party, a huge box of Blue Bunny ice cream treats arrived, and although it was torture to leave unopened boxes of ice cream tempting me in the freezer, I was strong (and threatened everyone else in the family) so that we could use the ice cream for her party.
Luckily (for me) only 3 girls came to the party, so we had a ton of treats left over to enjoy long after the party. Here’s what we got:
Birthday Party Ice Cream Sandwiches: oh my goodness! These were surprisingly delicious. I’m not usually a huge fan of birthday cake flavored ice cream, but these ice cream sandwiches were incredible. One of the best things about them? Unlike most ice cream sandwiches, these are so thick!
Simply Vanilla Premium Ice Cream Sandwiches: These are nothing like your standard ice cream sandwiches. Like the Birthday Party ice cream sandwiches, they are super thick. Definitely premium treats!
Cadbury English Toffee Ice Cream and Cadbury Royal Dark Ice Cream Bars: I love Cadbury chocolate, and these ice cream bars are SO good. I could eat a whole box in one sitting. I just can’t decide if I like the dark chocolate or the English Toffee better.
Mini Swirls Vanilla Ice Cream Cones: I love ice cream cones lined AND covered in chocolate. I mean, what’s not to love?
Which ice cream treat looks the most appetizing to you?

]]>Today I turned 38.
Years ago, during a time that CandyMan and I like to refer to as “The Golden Years,” our neighborhood was filled with our best friends. Our back yard connected to another backyard. Our families were so close that we kept our back doors open and would come in and out of each other’s houses at will. Our kids were best friends and we were together nearly every day.
Down the street lived another family, also with kids the same ages as ours. We would swap date nights while we watched each other’s kids, have Thanksgiving dinner together, and share a birthday lunch every October, since my friend and I had back to back birthdays.
Our friends have all moved away, and though we still keep in touch, the Golden Years of park play dates and late nights playing games while the kids all crashed together upstairs is gone.
Yesterday I received the best birthday present ever – the chance to reunite our families for a night of BBQ, soccer, cake, and ice cream. Oh, and my supposedly famous crescent rolls (recipe coming soon).
I can’t imagine anything better than spending my almost-birthday with such good friends…well, except for maybe the news that they were all moving back and we could revisit the Golden years now that our kids are teens.
We enjoyed taste-testing four flavors of Blue Bunny ice cream last night – Sweet Freedom® Bunny Tracks®, Sweet Freedom® Banana Split, Premium Red Carpet Red Velvet Cake
, and Premium Dulce De Leche. While I was surprisingly pleased with the Red Velvet Cake ice cream, the clear informal “taste test” winner was the Dulce de Leche ice cream, and all of the adults were raving over how perfect it was.
Since I couldn’t invite all of you over for my birthday, how about I give away 5 “Bunny Bucks” good for 5 Blue Bunny ice cream treats of your choice? Enter in the Rafflecopter form below. And good luck!

]]>I don’t know about you and your family, but Back to School season is a season to celebrate around here. My kids love heading back to school each fall (yes, I know…they are a little abnormal!). Last week, we pulled out the Blue Bunny ice cream treats, opened up the doors for some friends, and celebrated with treats and games and music.
Blue Bunny sent over some ice cream treats that everyone can be excited about. Not only are they tasty, but they are part of Blue Bunny’s Sweet Freedom line. The ice cream cones (160 calories) and ice cream bars (70 calories) are sugar free and low fat. Best of all, they passed the kid-test. No one would ever know they’re a good-for-you snack treat.
And thanks to Blue Bunny, you can celebrate with us with an ice cream giveaway. You can win 5 ice cream treats of your choice (sent as 5 Blue Bunny Bucks for free ice cream).
This giveaway will end on September 26 at 12:01 am and a winner will be chosen at random and notified via email. Giveaway open to residents of the US only.

]]>Where in the world did July disappear to? Last thing I remember, we were celebrating the beginning of summer, and now? Well, now we’re nearing the end. I leave on Sunday and only make an appearance at home for a few days here and there before school starts again at the end of August.
I’m afraid that I didn’t take advantage of National Ice Cream Month quite as much as I should have. Did you?
Luckily, there’s still time to celebrate (its never too late to celebrate ICE CREAM!) and what better way than to give some ice cream away?
But first, here’s a peek at Necco’s awesome 13th birthday party (and, yes, I am SO late in posting these pictures. Can I blame the craziness of summer??).
And I made it freestyle, too.
The Cadbury Ice Cream Bars from Blue Bunny were the perfect mix – portable, easy to serve, and so delicious!
Blue Bunny is giving away five Bunny Bucks, which is equivalent to five free ice cream products. That’s a LOT of ice cream! Visit Blue Bunny to see what variety of ice cream treats YOU would like to try.
To enter, simply let me know in the comment section below what your favorite kind of ice cream treat is (any brand or variety!).
For extra entries, you can tweet about this giveaway daily (easy if you use the tweet button at the top or bottom of this post).
This giveaway will end on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 and a winner will be chosen at random and notified via email and announced on this post.

Disclosure: Blue Bunny sponsored Necco’s party with 4 boxes of Cadbury Ice Cream Bars, but the opinions and party pics were all mine. There was a whole crowd of teenage girls at the party, along with buckets full of candy and chips, lots of giggles, and Just Dance tournaments. Those things just happened to not make it on the camera. We were having too much fun (yes, I totally joined in the Just Dance-Off.
