Happy Tuesday, everyone!
Preparing this post really put me in the mood for spring…as I’m bundled up under a big blanket and my fingers feel like they’re going to freeze right off. Ha! I know spring will come eventually, and then I’ll be moaning about my allergies and wishing I could breathe through my nose again!
Easter and spring will be here before we know it, and my theory is that it’s never too early to start enjoying seasonal treats!
If you’re looking for any new spring clothes, take a look at my LuLaRoe inventory. So many cute tops, leggings, and dresses that are perfect for spring!

My kids start Spring Break tomorrow, which means that the next week and a half will be all about sleeping in, baking our favorite Easter treats, and getting ready for an epic Easter egg hunt. In the past, this week of Spring Break has also meant big cousin sleep overs and always ALWAYS lots of food to feed lots of hungry kids and adults.
Basically, this time of year is about food and family (and to go along with my website, a good dose of FUN, too). I love to remind my friends and readers that preparing delicious meals – whether they’re for an ordinary family dinner or a big holiday brunch – doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. Satisfying, family-friendly foods can be basic, using ingredients you are probably already adding to your shopping cart, like Johnsonville breakfast sausage links and bread. Did you know that you can find Johnsonville breakfast sausage in the refrigerated section of your grocery store, next to the bacon? I love that the sausage links are fresh, not frozen, and that I cook them up when I’m ready to eat.
We love cooking hot breakfast foods for breakfast, brunch, and dinner. There’s really no “wrong” time to eat things like sausage and French Toast, right? I love eating my French Toast with a side of sausage, because the sausage cuts the sweet flavor of the French Toast just right. Plus, my kids and I LOVE dipping our sausage links in maple syrup (despite what my mom thinks, sausage is better with syrup!), so they really are the perfect breakfast foods to pair together.
This week, I not only prepared French Toast and Johnsonville sausage links together, but I meshed them into one fantastic crowd-pleasing menu item, perfect for your Spring brunch, breakfast-for-dinner meal, or weekend breakfast.
Have you ever tried wrapping your French Toast around sausage links? This was a first for us, but it won’t be a last! It was a total hit for the kids and adults alike.

]]>Hi guys!
Welcome to SPRING! The weather took a turn back in the direction of winter last week, but I hear that we’re supposed to be feeling much more spring-like by the weekend. I can’t wait! I love the spring. My only complaint is allergies, but honestly I am willing to suffer if I can enjoy the sunshine, the warm without humidity, and the coming of summer!
This week, we’ve pulled together some delicious Easter and spring-inspired desserts. I love how colorful they all are! Here’s a fun Easter cupcake that I made a few years ago:
What are your favorite Easter or Spring desserts? Do you have traditional desserts that you make each year?

]]>My feet take a beating during the winter. They get so dry! As we enter spring time, it’s time to pull the sandals back out of the closet and show off our feet again!
Whether it’s a long day at work, a full day of shopping, or a backyard soccer game with your kids, there are times we all need a little foot pampering. I’m looking for something that soothes tired feet but is safe to use. It’s even better if it isn’t expensive, right? I have just the thing for you in this Lemon Mint Foot Soak. It softens, moisturizes, and leaves your feet ready for a night of dancing or a day in yoru favorite spring sandals.
Ingredients:
3 cups epsom salts
1 cup baking soda
2 Tablespoon coconut oil
15 drops peppermint essential oil
10 drops lemon essential oil
1 Tablespoon matcha green tea powder (optional)
Directions:
1. Soften coconut oil in the microwave for 10 seconds to make it easier to mix.
2. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl until evenly mixed. I used matcha green tea powder to give a little natural color to the foot scrub. You can leave it out if you don’t have any on hand or use a soap colorant to give it a green tint.
3. Transfer your mixture to a large glass jar – I find pretty decorative jars at Dollar Tree and at Hobby Lobby that are perfect for storing DIY beauty recipes like this. Mason jars work well too!
To Use:
1. Scrub vigorously over damp feet, paying special attention to dry areas.
2. Rinse well, pat dry, apply lotion to lock in moisture.
Ta da! Your feet are ready for the spring!

I’m so glad you’re here! You’ve probably seen this adorable Chunk Bunnies craft on Pinterest and I’m so glad you’ve made it over here. I hope you’ll stay and look around a while!
My crafty friend, Lisa, comes up with the most adorable crafts to share on the blog (don’t believe me? See what she’s created for us already).
I know that Lisa and I have both been eager to welcome spring (so far the handful of sunshiny, slightly warm days hasn’t quite satisfied my hunger for spring…I want more!). In honor of spring and Easter coming up in a few short weeks, Lisa made these adorable “Chunky bunnies” – a perfect decoration to get your home ready for spring.
As always, Lisa has included gorgeous step-by-step visual instructions for making this craft, so I’ll let her take it from here.
See the list below for the basic materials you’ll need to make your chunky bunnies. Important: after you’ve gathered your supplies, you’ll also want to print off this Bunny Ear Pattern (simply click that link to access the PDF that can be printed on your computer).

Over the last 18 years of being a parent, I have spent hours and hours sitting on the ground, on the couch and snuggled up in bed reading picture books with my kids. Even though my kids are all old enough to pick up a novel and read to themselves, we still have a huge collection of picture books at home. One of my favorite types of books to collect is holiday and seasonal books, and I’ve found that good picture books for holidays transcend time and ages.
I’ve collected some spring and Easter-themed books from some of our favorite authors, along with a few news ones. Enjoy some snuggle-up time with your kids this spring!

Note: Amazon affiliate links used. If you purchase any of these books, I could earn a small commission. Thanks!
Happy Easter, Mouse! (If You Give a Mouse a Cookie)
We love Mouse from “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” and have a big collection of books from author Laura Joffe Numeroff and illustrator Felicia Bond. Join Mouse in a new adventure as he tries to figure out who’s leaving Easter eggs all over his house!
The Tiny Seed (The World of Eric Carle)
Eric Carle’s classic story of the life cycle of a flower is told through the adventures of a tiny seed. This mini-book includes a piece of detachable seed-embedded paper housed on the inside front cover. Readers can plant the entire piece of paper and watch as their very own tiny seeds grow into beautiful wildflowers.
When a bunny is born in spring, he sees the world as green and new and full of hope. But as the seasons change, the bunny worries that the earth may be dying. In bestselling author’s Sally Lloyd-Jones’ latest picture book celebrating the Easter season and rebirth, nature speaks to the bunny, assuring him of something more.

Max’s Special Spring (Max and Ruby)
Ruby is cleaning up the backyard to attract robins—she’ll know it’s spring when she sees them! But Max keeps taking the leaves and branches that Ruby is trying to get rid of. Before long, robins appear near Max’s piles. Spring is here and thanks to Max, the birds have everything they need to build their nests!

Cherry Blossoms Say Spring (National Geographic Kids)
As DC-area residents, spring means cherry blossoms, so this is a must-have book for spring! Cherry Blossoms Say Spring looks at the life cycle of a cherry tree, the history behind the gift of the Japanese cherry trees to our nation’s capital, and the association of cherry trees and spring.

The Fuzzy Duckling (Little Golden Book)
Little Golden Books remind me of my own childhood, and I had this book growing up! Alice and Martin Provensen’s illustrations are so delightful that children will want to join the fuzzy duckling on his stroll through the countryside, meeting animals along the way. This adorable counting story by Jane Werner Watson is as fresh today as it was in 1949.

This is a book that I used (and loved) when I was teaching preschool. Planting a Rainbow helps children understand how to plant bulbs, seeds, and seedlings, and nurture their growth. Lois Ehlert’s bold collage illustrations include six pages of staggered width, presenting all the flowers of each color of the rainbow.

Fancy Nancy: Spring Fashion Fling
What better way to celebrate spring than with a fashion show? Fancy Nancy and Bree create magnificent costumes for their dolls Marabelle and Chiffon to wear at the “Spring Fling” fashion show. Join Nancy and Bree as they celebrate the season in this special storybook adventure, complete with a fabulous set of stickers!

It’s an extraordinary day on Pebble Island for three frogs when one of them discovers a beautiful white egg. They’ve never seen a chicken egg before, but they’re sure that’s what this must be. So when the egg hatches and out crawls a long green, scaly creature, they naturally call it . . . a chicken! From award winning-artist Leo Lionni, here’s a hilarious case of mistaken identity that children are sure to delight in.

Jan Brett’s illustrations are my favorite, and I’ve got a huge collection of her picture books. I could spend hours looking at the colorful details! If Hoppi can make the best Easter egg, he will get to help the Easter Rabbit deliver the eggs on Easter morning. But it is not so easy. Discouraged, he goes into the woods to think when a blue robin’s egg tumbles out of its nest. Hoppi keeps it safe and warm until the baby bird hatches, and when the Easter Rabbit arrives, he chooses the empty blue eggshell to reward Hoppi for his kindness.

Pinkalicious: Eggstraordinary Easter
I love author Victoria Kann’s Pinkalicious books. When Pinkalicious wakes up on Easter morning, she finds a note from Edgar Easter Bunny that sends the Pinkerton family on an eggsciting Easter scavenger hunt!

In Llama Llama Easter Egg, the Easter Bunny brings lots of treats for Llama Llama: jelly beans, colorful eggs, and a fluffy surprise! With short and simple rhyming text, the Llama Llama board books introduce Llama Llama to babies and toddlers.

One fine Easter morning, George and the man with the yellow hat head to the park. George can’t help but join in the fun when he sees children dyeing Easter eggs . . . but what’s that man doing with their prized creations? Each hardcover gift book comes with glittery egg-decorating stickers!

Splat the Cat: Where’s the Easter Bunny?
Easter is almost here! Splat the Cat has to tell the Easter Bunny what he wants most. A really big Easter egg, of course! But where is the Easter Bunny? Do you know? (Fun side note: we got this as a gift from the White House the last time we went to the Easter Egg Roll!)

Mercer Mayer’s popular Little Critter experiences all the joys of Easter, like egg-dyeing, an egg hunt, and going to church, in spite of his little sister constantly tugging at his sleeve. Little Critter doesn’t like dressing up for Easter but otherwise enjoys a very special family holiday.

Sniff. Sniff. Sniff. Spring is in the air. Mole can smell it. But Bear is still asleep after his long winter nap. How will Mole wake up Bear so they can celebrate together? When a knock, knock, knock and toot, toot, toot can’t get Bear out of bed, Mole cooks up a special treat.

After having so much fun making a Valentine’s Day button heart canvas, I decided to try making a Easter-themed canvas to brighten up my walls for Spring. Looking at the pastel buttons and the yellow and blue striped canvas makes me happy.
Lay masking tape in stripes along canvas, wrapping tape around the back. Wherever you have not taped will get painted – you can make stripes even or do a combination of thick and thin stripes. Be creative!
Using whatever colors match your decor (or your buttons. Or whatever makes you happy), paint uncovered canvas stripes. Let dry. (Note: I didn’t press my masking tape securely enough onto the canvas, and I had a little bit of messy paint around the edges. Next time, I’ll be more careful).
Print out the Easter egg template here: Top half and Bottom half. I just used the same template that was used to make my Easter Egg Button Wreath, but you can use any egg shape or free-hand it if you’re brave enough.
When your paint is completely dry, remove the masking tape and loosely tape the stencil in place (be sure to only use the tape on non-painted areas).
Place tacky glue on the back of buttons and glue onto the canvas.
I used a variety of sizes. Luckily, the tacky glue allows you to shift the buttons around a little to get them in the perfect place before they dry).
Remove the egg stencil and let the glue dry.
That’s it! Now find a place to hang your Easter Egg Canvas Wall Hanging.
I think I may just have to make one of these for each holiday. They’re FUN to make, and come together so fast. My kind of craft!

A funny thing happened today. I went outside three different times. And I didn’t wear a coat. Remember last week at this time? We were about to start snow day number 3 of the week and we were literally buried under feet of snow. I remember trying to drive somewhere last Friday and finding my van’s wheels stuck in ice.
Today, I turned the cool air on while I was driving to the grocery store. And then at 3:30, I went on a walk to pick up my youngest son from an after school club meeting (my 12 year old and I took the long way around the neighborhood so we could enjoy the sun) and found buds growing on the trees.
Then after dinner, I was up in my 2nd story bedroom when I glanced out the window to see the most spectacular sunset. I grabbed my phone and ran outside, without even bothering to put a jacket on. Unfortunately, by the time I made it halfway around the neighborhood where there was a decent view of the skyline, the sunset had basically disappeared, but I still enjoyed the evening walk.
I can’t wait for spring to get here, to spend more time outside, to soak in a little sunshine now and then. This winter has been rough on me. I definitely needed a change of pace.
All photos were taken with my Nokia Lumia 830 Windows Phone, which I am currently reviewing. I got the phone for free, and each week I’m doing different challenges on Twitter. Follow the hashtag #LumiaSwitch to see the conversation.
Now it’s time for YOU to show me your best shots from this past week. Link up below and have a fantastic weekend!
