.
I was gone most of the day Monday preparing for today.
Somehow this ordinary Tuesday turned into the day that we’re adopting a kitten.
A year and a half ago, we were a family without pets. Now we’re all in.
I have a very happy 15-year-old girl living down the hall from me.
For this week’s Delicious Dishes Recipe Party, each of the hosts has chosen their favorite part of a 6-course Valentine’s Day dinner. Then we put them all together to create a delicious fancy (and dare I say romantic?) dinner.

]]>Yesterday was frigid.
When my daughter took our dog out in the morning, she forgot that her hair was damp from her shower and her hair froze in the wind. She panicked, thinking that her hair would break off!
Cold Cold Cold. Too cold.
Luckily, things are warming up with Valentine’s Day on the horizon…

]]>Can you believe it’s the end of January? The year is already flying by! Today my 3rd child turns 17. He’s been taller than both of his parents for years now, he’s a junior in high school, on the varsity cross country and track teams, and he’s a kind and social teenager. He makes a mama proud!
Because it’s the end of the month, and because I am SO close to meeting my big sales goal for my LuLaRoe business, I thought I’d reach out to you guys. There’s no pressure at all, but if you love buttery soft leggings or need a new shirt or sweater (or anything in between), would you please consider making a purchase from me today? I would SO appreciate it! I’ve got a special deal going on through end-of-day Wednesday. Shop or just browse here: https://sonlet.com/party/1595836638p/
Now let’s turn our focus back to our yummy party! I don’t know if it’s the colors this week or if this is a particularly delicious collection of recipes, but my mouth is watering!

]]>One of my favorite DIY beauty items to make are lotion bars (check out my other lotion bar recipe here). They are easy to make and give your skin a quick burst of moisture and heavenly scent! This particular recipe for Rose & Lavender Lotion bars is perfect year round to hydrate your skin, but it’s particularly suited for a homemade Valentine’s Day gift.
You just need a few natural ingredients to get started and you will have a handful of lotion bars ready to keep or gift to friends and family. Note: I’ve linked to several of the ingredients you’ll need for this DIY project. They’re affiliate links, so I can earn a small commission should you choose to buy something. You’ll never pay more, though!
Directions:
To use: Rub lotion bar over warm skin (it melts at body temperature) and enjoy the scent and moisture it provides to your skin.
The number of lotion bars this recipe will yield depends on the size of the mold; smaller shapes will make more lotion bars and larger molds will make fewer.

]]>HI GUYS!
Need a last-minute Valentine’s Day gift? My daughter made these “52 Things I Love About You” cards for her fiancé and sent the pictures over to me so that I could share her fun DIY Valentine’s Day gift. Because let’s face it….there are a LOT of us out there who need some help when it comes to Valentine’s Day gifts.
Also…
My daughter has a fiancé.
Did you catch that?
My daughter is getting married. In April. I’m excited and happy and terrified and in shock all at the same time (only because I am simply not old enough to have a married child, right?? Please just agree with me here).
Honestly, I really AM excited. She is happy. He is wonderful. What more could a mom ask?
Kim shared this easy craft with me just in case there were others of you out there who might need a little assistance this weekend. I love that it uses stuff that most of us have lying around the house (I know we’ve got a bunch of playing cards sitting around ALL over the house (my 10-year-old is currently into “card throwing.” I never knew it was a THING until he started throwing cards at my old foam boards. So…maybe I have too many cards lying around. Hmm…
Supplies Needed:
Note: Amazon links are used below so you can easily see or find supplies.
How to Assemble Your Gift:
That’s it!
This DIY gift costs less than $10 (and even LESS than that if you’ve already got the supplies on hand).
Happy Valentine’s Day! I want to hear ALL about it after the weekend. Deal?

]]>Thank you TruMoo for sponsoring this post and triple chocolate waffles recipe! Try TruMoo in more delicious recipes this season!
Tis the time of year for hot chocolate, and I have a new favorite way to enjoy it. It’s the easiest, tastiest, creamiest hot chocolate ever – and all I have to do is heat up a mug of TruMoo chocolate milk. Seriously! You’ve got to try it! My youngest son is a hot chocolate fanatic, and it has passed his test. I love giving it to him because I know that he’s getting nutrition that he needs. Plus, TruMoo has NO artificial growth hormones*, NO high fructose corn syrup and a delicious taste kids (and adults!) love.
Because we’ve been enjoying TruMoo HOT this month, I figured it would be fun to use it in a hot breakfast recipe for Valentine’s Day (my favorite!). And what better to celebrate Valentine’s Day than chocolate and red berries?
The answer is…there is nothing better.
As picky as my son is about his hot chocolate, I’m pretty picky about my waffles. I was concerned before starting my recipe that these waffles not be too sweet or dense or dessert-like because I wanted them to be appropriate for a special breakfast. I was pleased that these waffles were light and fluffy, with just the right amount of chocolate and sugar. I had my husband test taste the very first waffle that came off the waffle iron, and he was so impressed that he immediately asked for another one.
Three chocolates (cocoa powder, TruMoo chocolate milk, and semi-sweet chocolate chips) combine to make the perfect chocolate waffle for a special breakfast treat!
The chocolate waffles are delicious enough on their own, but with the addition of a homemade raspberry sauce and TruMoo hot chocolate, this was a Valentine’s Day breakfast to die for!
Check out the quick flipagram video on Instagram I did while making this recipe (individual steps included)!
Have you ever tried TruMoo hot? For more delicious recipe ideas with TruMoo chocolate milk, check out hashtag #TryTruMooHot and visit TruMoo on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook.
*Note: No significant difference has been shown between milk derived from cows treated with the artificial growth hormone rbST and non-rbST-treated cows.

]]>Have you tried creating your own homemade bath products yet? You are definitely going to want to give this Chocolate Covered Strawberry Sugar Scrub a try right away, whether you’re a seasoned maker-of-homemade-bath-products or if you’ve never tried it before.
The only thing I love more than creating DIY beauty and body products is making them smell good enough to eat! While I wouldn’t recommend a big spoonful of this, it is much safer than any store bought version, it’s much cheaper to make, and so easy to put together you won’t believe it! Beyond one simple ingredient all you have to do is raid the pantry for a few supplies and you have a wonderful body scrub to keep or gift. Moms, friends, teachers – they will all love this deliciously scented easy spa treatment that they can do in the comfort of their own home.
Homemade sugar scrubs are the perfect way to soften and moisturize your skin in a snap; you can repeat this treatment in the shower several times a week for healthy glowing skin. After you use this chocolate covered strawberry sugar scrub, be sure to add a little whipped chocolate body butter. You’ll love the way your skin feels…and smells!
1 – Scoop out a generous amount onto damp skin, massage in a circular motion, rinse completely away, pat skin dry with a towel.
2 – Sugar scrub will be good stored for several months in an airtight container.
Here’s a simple label you can use for the top of your jar. I’ve included one graphic image, and there are 2 easy ways you can use this. First, save the image to your computer.
Option #1 is to go to Avery Design & Print Online and use their free templates program to print them off on their stickers. Just enter design #22807 in the “start a new project” box and then click go. That will bring you to a page of lots of templates. If you want to use my design, click on the blank white circle (the first “design” there) and click next again. You’ll then see a big “graphing” circle in the middle of the screen. Click on “images” on the left menu and upload this image. Drag it til it fits the entire space provided. Viola! You should see the design populating the entire sheet to the right. You can print them on Avery labels OR you can just print them on any paper. (get the Avery circle labels here)
Option #2 is to open up a word document and insert this image as a file into a blank document. You can add as many as you want on a sheet, dragging to make it your desired size. I would probably opt to print on card stock versus regular printer paper.
If those options sound too complicated, then you can always add a scrap of fabric under the rim of your mason jar or tie a simple ribbon around the lid. Instant present-ready!

]]>I love to create crafts, and Valentine’s Day just seems to be made for fun DIY projects. I usually don’t consider myself a very crafty person. Actually, I take that back. I can make nice-looking things. I just need a really good idea – I can copy just about anything. But ask me to come up with an original idea? Most of the time I’m totally lost.
That’s why I’ve turned to a few fellow crafty bloggers to put together this list of 10 gorgeous but easy Valentine’s Day crafts for adults.
Whether you’re looking for a little something handmade to decorate your house for the Valentine’s Day season or if you’d like to make something as a gift for someone special, these easy Valentine’s Day crafts are sure to please!

2 – Valentine’s Day “I Love You Because….” Dry Erase Frame from Food Fun Family
3 – Canvas and Button Heart Art from The Logbook
4 – Heart-Dotted Sharpie Cups from Organized 31
5 – Handmade Valentine’s Day Felt Arrows from An Extraordinary Day
6 – 3D Hanging Paper Hearts for Valentine’s Day from An Extraordinary Day
7 – Pipe Cleaner Heart Garland from We Know Stuff
8 – Marbled Votive Candle Holders from Director Jewels
9 – Easy Valentine’s Day String Art from Crafts ‘n Coffee
10 – DIY Love Banner from April Golightly
Do you have any Valentine’s Day crafts (for adults OR for kids) that you’re working on this year? I think my kitchen needs some of those 3D paper hearts (don’t they look so cute hanging in the window?) and I KNOW that my kids would love to help me make some pipe cleaner heart garland (and bonus: we have pipe cleaner already!).
Now if only I could figure out what to do with all of that red burlap and paint stirring sticks. I’m taking ideas. Please share your favorite crafts or what you’ve been working on in the comments below.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
