Last Friday, we decided to surprise the kids with an out-of-the-ordinary family night. We didn’t tell anybody where we were going, and we didn’t even give them any hints other than the fact that we were driving 45 minutes away.
When we got to our destination, I admit the family fun center did not look like much. A little run down, dark, and with no one around. The kids must have thought we were insane, dragging them so far for something so unimpressive.
But once we got buckled up in the go-carts and started driving around the tracks, the cynicism turned to smiles and pretty soon everyone was having the time of their lives.
Because it was so dark, the photos didn’t turn out that great, but they represent some of the most fun memories we’ve made together in a long time. Friendly racing, screams of delight, bugs in our eyes, and drinks at Sonic afterwards. The makings of a near-perfect night.
