Happy 4th of July!

Sunday, July 6, 2008 by Lolli Leave a Comment

We had a fun 4th of July! We started off at an early pancake breakfast at Church….The best part about the breakfast was seeing Grandma and Grandpa there! They had arrived in town the night before and so the breakfast was practically the first chance the kids had to see them.

We were eager to swim with Gma, Gpa, and Uncle Dan and Aunt Andrea, despite our worries over the weather. It was perfect once we got there. We had the whole pool to ourselves! Taco went under water for the first time and started swimming yesterday! We were all very proud of him.
Apple had a great time with everybody, but especially Grandpa. It was nice for me to have some extra hands around to hold him in the pool!

Everyone here was admiring Dan’s fabulous diving skills…
Kiwi was kind enough to take a picture of the Big Girls. Andrea had a brilliant idea to do a silly picture, but Mom and I couldn’t stop laughing. I don’t know how Kiwi caught the next picture. It was a miracle!

Back at home, we played around until it was time for the fireworks. I love to watch my kids entertain and play with their cousin!
By the time we were ready to go to the fireworks, it was pretty rainy, and none of the adults were feeling up to dragging 6 kids out to the fairgrounds to sit on wet grass. So we opted to go to our favorite ice cream place and take advantage of the free second scoop when it’s raining! Yum!!
A few of the kids ate in the back of our van.
On the way to Brusters, we had a brilliant idea! Instead of going to the fairground and walking a lot and getting stuck in traffic to get home, we parked in the Costco parking lot, where we had a perfect, comfortable easy spot to watch the fireworks. If only we had brought a patriotic music CD to blast from our car, we hardly would have noticed the change of location!
Apple wanted to be just like Daddy.
Behind them, Andrea looked through some bags of clothes and shoes that I had in the back of my car to donate. I think I had just as much fun watching her be excited about all the new clothes and shoes as she was to find them! I will always remember this 4th of July as the year of the hand-me-downs. :)
Later, I’ll post a picture of me with my family that my sister took. At least I was wearing red, white, and blue! I feel bad that I have no 4th of July-looking pictures!
