I’ve spent the last 2 days with my 4 year old and 21 month old nephews in San Diego. As a mother of kids who are now teens and tweens, it’s been a little while since I have had little ones like this around.
I love hearing my sweet little nephews calling for Aunt Laura. The baby and I have been roommates this weekend, and on Saturday morning we woke up early before the rest of the house and had a little one-on-one time. We watched old home movies and laughed at my kids dancing in my over-sized pajama pants. We played games on my iPad. We pushed cars back and forth on the carpet.
And we bonded.
My 2 year old nephew has been babbling all weekend. I can tell that he knows exactly what he’s trying to say, but it’s still pretty tricky for the rest of us to figure out what he means. I’m sure it’s as frustrating for him to try to communicate as it is for the adults around him to understand. Except, of course, when he said my name.
I remember the days of baby talk at my house and having no idea what my kids were saying. It’s kind of funny to imagine what kids are thinking. Don’t you think so? What would your babies say if they could talk? What do you think they’re imagining while they’re babbling away?
‘Twas the night before Christmas…and all she wants are Fisher-Price® toys. Stay up late with the baby who can’t sleep because she’s so excited for Santa to come- in an updated Deck the Halls version that lets you see exactly what baby is dreaming of playing with.
What do you think your kids dreamed about when they were babies?

There’s no telling what my grandsons dream about right now. Probably rolling cars and trains on the floor! LOL

I recently watched a video of my now six year old daughter from back when she was one year old and just babbling- I had forgotten what those days were like! It’s so much easier when they are able to communicate. Now I have a two month old and she’s smiling and making cooing sounds- such a sweet stage :)
