We bundled up last night after dinner, packed everyone in the van and drove to our favorite neighborhood Christmas tree lot:
I’m not joking. It’s our tradition. We get our tree here every year. PB is a fresh-tree stickler. One year, some friends invited us to go tree shopping with them to a quaint little tree lot. The price tags were NOT quaint. We were back at the Home Depot the next year.
We did one quick scan around the lot and found PB’s favorite variety: Douglas Fir. Personally, I could go for some variety, but since the MR has his heart set on Douglas Firs, that’s what we get every year.
Ooh! Here’s one that looks straight and full. Good? Good. Let’s go. That took us all of 7 minutes.
A quick tie to the roof and we’re off!
Back home, the kids rummaged through Christmas boxes and finally gave up and started watching one of the Christmas movies while Dad cut the trunk and fastened it in the tree stand. Oh, and then there was the light testing and installing.
Finally, the tree was ready to decorate! It’s a rule that each person needs at least one picture in front of the tree each year.
KitKat jumped in and put up her ornament….and then she was done.
Nerds boogied a little to the Elvis Christmas CD.
Daddy helped Reese put quite a few ornaments up high. She had her heart set on putting hers up top.
Twizzler was a pro! He must have hung half the ornaments.
Time for the star on top of the tree! Nerds insisted on being the one to put it on. I love the look on PB’s face. She’s not as little as she used to be!
By the time we’re done, the tree is quite full.
See the clock in the background? We were finally done at 9:20. Eek! But wait! We need a family picture! So I set up the camera on a stool, set the timer, and joined the rest of the gang.
AJ keeps asking me if TONIGHT is the night that Santa is coming. He is VERY eager and excited. Ahh–to be 3 again!
