This won’t be the first time I have blogged about Twizzler’s love affair with ketchup. This little love affair has been going on as long as I can remember….or at least as long as Twizzler had a voice to express his desire to not only eat ketchup on everything, but eat LOTS of ketchup on everything.
Yesterday at scout camp, the bagged lunch consisted of 2 hot dogs, a bag of chips, a pudding, a cookie, and 2 packets of ketchup (a model of healthy eating…). I laughed inwardly at the thought of Twizzler eating a hot dog with just one squirt of ketchup. And then I noticed him trading…..a cookie for a packet of ketchup, a favor for another packet, a kind parent passing by with extra ketchups, until he had “enough.”
I frequently say, “At least it’s ketchup….it could be a lot worse.” And now that Hunt’s ketchup doesn’t contain any high fructose corn syrup, I can feel better about him eating cups of ketchup a day. Tomatoes are good for you, right? Sometimes just getting kids to eat, period, is cause enough to celebrate. Getting kids to eat something with some nutritional value is extra reason to celebrate.
This summer, Hunt’s wants to give us Moms a high five by celebrating the fact that Hunt’s ketchup now features five simple ingredients. Hunt’s reformulated recipe includes no high fructose corn syrup, and no artificial ingredients or preservatives. And it passed the ketchup connoisseur’s taste test. Twizzler loves the taste of Hunt’s, and actually remarked that it was “tastier” (ie–more flavor) then the ketchup we had been eating. And, believe me, he knows his ketchup.
In honor of this announcement, Moms now have a chance to win a family vacation (up to $5,000) through a new photo contest. Five weekly winners will receive fun summertime barbeque packs, and one lucky winner will win a family vacation. To enter, go to facebook.com/hunts, submit a photo of you and your family achieving a “simple victory” and you could win that summer vacation you’ve been longing for.
Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Hunt’s and received a ketchup sample to facilitate my candid review. Mom Central also sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.

I’m so glad you found the post! :) Funny, though–right after we tweeted, I got on a webinar all about how high fructose corn syrup is misconstrued. Supposedly it’s not that bad–no worse than sugar.

I came here after you tweeted me about this post today. When picking up a quick couple of things, the “no high fructose corn syrup” label jumped out at me. It didn’t surprise me that is was in ketchup, but the bread did. I definitely need to pay more attention and take more time when I shop (which means shopping without the kids with me).
By the way, my kids feel about mustard like yours does ketchup. Shoot…I’ll have to check the mustard label! And how many ways are there to spell ketchup, catchup, whatever!
I like the rest of your blog, too!

I have heard of those but haven’t tried them. I bet my son would like them! Or else he’d just get the idea to dip his chips in ketchup and never eat a dry chip again!

I know what you mean about french fries. My kids have done that for sure! Now, ketchup on ice cream?? I must admit not even MY son has tried that!
Lolli says
Yep–isn’t it great? :)

Have you seen the ketchup flavored Pringles? My son loves ketchup and wants to try them, but I am not sure I want to….

BUTCOMEON!
I always buy another brand.
I have had drilled in my brain from a young kid.
“Brand loyalty”, because my mom bought Heinz Ketchup, I buy it..
Seeing this, when I do my shopping this week I will buy this NEW Hunts.
My grandkids don’t eat french frys, they us them as another tool to eat ketchup. I would rather them eat this. Thanks for another good post!

I love that it is high fructose corn syrup, that’s something I always look for in any product.
