Back to School Giveaway Week, Bonus Day Six:
I’d like to introduce you to a new friend of mine. His name is David Garrett.
David has been playing the violin since he was four years old, and has been performing sold-out classical violin concerts since he was a young boy of 12 (including playing with the London Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Russian National Orchestra). David just came out with a new CD, Rock Symphonies– a totally new kind of sound. Rock Symphonies brings together David’s two great loves: classical music and the rock music of his generation. It debuted (and is still holding it’s position) as #2 on the Billboard Classical Crossover chart (second only to Sting). Listen to David explain his music (and demonstrate it, too):
David is uper-talented. In fact, he holds the record for the fastest performance of “The Flight of the Bumblebee,” which he recently performed on Oprah. Yes, he plays the song in 66 seconds. Crazy.
I have totally enjoyed listening to David Garrett’s new CD. I love hearing remixes of old favorites, and I was familiar with each of the songs that he played on the album. My favorite? Walk This Way. Makes me happy. His songs can become intense (as is common in both the classical and rock genres), and his talent oozes out of the stereo. Some of his songs are soothing, while others make me want to get up and clean the house or something. His style is probably not for everyone, but since I grew up on classical music and spent my teens listening to rock, I have an appreciation for both styles.

Oh!!! I heard this playing when I walked into Barns and Noble and rushed over to the register to figure out who it was. *LOVE* it!! (So I do have the CD, but not an autographed one!) I listen to allllll kinds of music. From classical (my favorite is Handel’s Water/Fire music) to hard rock like Linkin Park. Throw in pop like Justin Timberlake, not-too-twangy country like Garth, some soft rock like Simon and Garfunkel, and I’m in heaven. (LOVE random play on my iPod ;) )

I love classical music and classic rock (I know, that dates me) the most (think Trans-Siberian Orchestra). What a great prize!

I am a classically trained violinist that has been fraternizing with the fiddle. My Dad always told me that he didn’t pay for 15 years of classical lesson for me to “go get lazy with the fiddle playing” (ha! so true) but it is fun to switch it up a bit. I’ve heard of David Garrett but other than the Bumble Bee trick I’ve not heard him play.
I a bit addicted to my Pandora radio too. Tonight we were listening to bluegrass radio for awhile..and then just Today’s Hits. What a contrast!

I listen to all kinds of music! Oh – I take that back, I can’t stand rap (is that really music?). My Best Friend would Love-Love-Love this musician. I hope that I win so that I can give it to her.
Have you ever listened to Rondo Veneziano? If not, you should check them out.
Thanks for the giveaway.

I love Pandora radio! I’ve noticed the same thing about my Glee radio. It keeps getting better and better. :)

That CD sounds so awesome! I would love to have something like that! In the meantime, I’m listening to my Pandora station “P!NK Radio” which through likes and dislikes has evolved into upbeat and peppy songs.
