I wish that I could muster up some enthusiasm for Twizzler’s big day yesterday. The fact is, I’ve been ending most days with a colossal headache, and today is no exception. For some reason, I just don’t feel like I can manage much today. But I still want to share Twizzler’s first Blue and Gold Banquet for Cub Scouts.
After school yesterday, Twizzler and I made this fantabulous car cake….Ok, I was slightly embarrassed by this cake! By the time we made it to the banquet, the frosting was sagging all around the bottom. And yet, it still won the “Most masculinly Manly” design. Oh yeah. Mom’s famous car cake is manly. I cracked up as I watched the first thing eaten off the cake…..the Thin Mint tires, of course!
There were some pretty interesting cake designs! All the parents were laughing about the Hoover Dam cake….should have won the “Best Dam Cake” award. It was awesome.
Isn’t he a cutie? Chapped nose and all, he’s my buddy.
My little cubs did an incredible job on their skit. We found out that we needed to do a skit a week ago, and I was so proud of those boys for pulling it off. The got a lot of laughs.
And then it was his turn. The newest Bobcat scout. Special delivery.
CandyMan’s reaction at the end of the night:
“This is only once a year, right?”
After everything was cleaned up, my friend dropped me off at my newly FIXED van. She had referred me to a friend of hers who has a shop. He was not very busy yesterday and volunteered to fix the brakes for us for free. What a miracle! All we had to do was buy the brake pads. It was humbling to have a total stranger help us out like that. Just a few hours after fixing the car, we ran into him at the Blue and Gold. He’s in Cub Scouts, too! I have a car to drive again!
PS–I’m running and don’t have time to re-read the post. Busy day. So please excuse any misspellings or other wierd things I might have said. Did I mention that my head hurts?
