Yet Another Jay and Deb Production.
First, I want you to remember back to when you were in 7th grade…..
The other day, I drove KitKat to school early in the morning after she had missed her bus. There was the usual long line of parents’ cars waiting to drop their kids off in front of the school. KitKat and I chatted until we arrived at the front of the line. She said good-bye and hopped out of the car, and almost immediately fell in line with another person and began talking with her. I was shocked and impressed and so proud to watch my 7th grader walk all the way up to the shcool, talking pleasantly…..with a teacher.
It may seem like such a small thing, but it spoke volumes to me. She was not concerned with what other kids might think about her walking to school with a teacher. She showed the teacher respect and treated her like a person (how many middle school teachers do you think get that?).
Today, KitKat is going over to my friend, Safire‘s, house to be a Mommy’s helper. She goes over there once a week, barring illnesses, and spends a few hours playing with 3 year old Butterfly and the twin baby boys. She has never mentioned getting something out of her time there. I’m happy that she has a chance to serve with a good attitude.
(PS–did you notice my note up at the top of my page? I am trying to win KitKat a necklace from Kristen’s Custom Creations and La Dolce Vita, where I was featured this week. The more comments I get on my interview post, the better chance I have to win the necklace for her! Take a minute and leave a comment. Thanks! You can leave one a day….
Enough about KitKat! I have another person to spotlight!! Remember all of my moaning and groaning last week? Oh, it was a horrible week for me, and I apologize for letting so much of it out on the blog. At one point, my Photobucket account was frozen because I had exceeded bandwidth (ie–I had too many people visit my blog and see my pictures!). I was distraught because I did not have the money to upgrade. And then I got an email from Photobucket saying “Congratulations for upgrading to a Pro Account!” What?! I was so confused. I didn’t upgrade! And then I found out that a certain friend of mine had upgraded for me. What a wonderful surprise! I don’t know if she’ll ever know how much it meant to me. It was a seemingly small act, but it was a little ray of hope and it took just enough pressure off of my shoulders that I was able to relax a little. She is a wonderful friend. Thank You!!
