This summer has been full of fun family activities, but until last week we really hadn’t spent much time with friends. (I know–weird!!) My kids seem to be enjoying the family time, and I am soaking it in.
Last Wednesday, I had the wonderful opportunity to host a super-fun and super-HOT Awesome Wholesome Backyard Party with Ovaltine. Not only did my friends and I get to drink lots of Ovaltine and snack on yummy treats, but in conjunction with the party, Ovaltine is donating $250 to a local non-profit summer camp through JustGive.org. I love it when fun can be combined with doing good!
I chose to feature the Sherwood Forest Boys and Girls Club Summer Camp program. This camp was organized to “combat juvenile delinquency and advance the moral, intellectual, and social conditions of youngsters, including training and education for the duties of citizenship. In addition to extensive supervised physical education, studies shall be conducted in arts and crafts, nature studies, and other motivational fields.”
That’s an organization that deserves some support!
And now, back to my party!
Ovaltine Taste Test
Because Ovaltine has just rolled out new recipes, I thought it would be fun to offer a little taste test station to see what my friends and their families preferred. Ovaltine has three yummy flavors – Rich Chocolate, Chocolate Malt, and Classic Malt. All 3 flavors are good sources of 12 essential vitamins and minerals, no artificial flavors, and use coloring only from natural sources.
My kids always reach for the Rich Chocolate first. But the overwhelming winner at our taste test was the Chocolate Malt. Maybe it’s light flavor was perfect for the hot day.
Which Ovaltine flavor is YOUR favorite?
Guess how many cheese balls
Ovaltine sent me a door prize for one of my party-attendees, and so I figured we’d have some fun with it. Before the party, I filled a clear container up with cheese balls and had everyone submit a guess – how many cheese balls were in the jar? What would YOU guess?
My own Twizzler cracked me up by writing down a complicated mathematical equation to figure out how many cheese balls there were. Most everyone else just took a wild guess. The guesses ranged from 35 to 63…..and one of the moms guessed the exact number! She got to take home her very own Ovaltine straw dispenser (we got one, too….and my kids are still fascinated by it!).
By the way, the correct guess was 63. Most people thought the jar held much less than that!
Good, clean kids fun!
In addition to the Ovaltine that was supplied for the party, I was also sent a ton of balls, jump ropes, and other outdoor fun supplies. The kids had a blast playing together, but the most popular party game for sure was water balloons (did I mention we’ve been in the middle of a heat wave?).
The younger kids also enjoyed getting their faces and arms painted by the big kids.
One of the biggest hits of the party for kids and moms alike was this simple but incredibly tasty Ovaltine recipe:
Ovaltine Dip-alicious recipe
2 oz. light cream cheese, room temperature
1/4 cup Ovaltine Rich Chocolate Mix
1 Tablespoon fat free milkCombine cream cheese, Ovaltine, and milk in small bowl. Stir until smooth. Serve with Graham Cracker sticks, pretzel sticks, or apple slices (or anything else that tastes good with chocolate!).
I highly recommend it!
Disclosure: I am an Ovaltine Mom and was supplied with party supplies and funds to cover refreshments for the party. The FUN that we had and my experience with Ovaltine is all my own.

Looks like you all had a great party! I didn’t try the dip yet but will have to try it soon. Just stopping by to tell you I read your photo tips on 5 minutes for mom and really enjoyed them! I’ll be following along hoping to learn some more about my camera. It’s been on the “to do” list for a while now :)

That looks like a recipe my son would like. I like the malted variety.

That dip recipe looks amazing! I am going to have to try it with my girls. Audrey loves the new Ovaltine but, for some reason, Maurene won’t try it. She doesn’t know how much she will love it.
