I felt a little guilty yesterday taking the spotlight away form Necco…..it was her special day, after all. 10 years old! Wow!
Here are 10 things I love about Necco:
1-She is a peacemaker. She has a true desire for other people to be happy.
2-She is quietly talented. She is not boastful and doesn’t try to show off when she does something great.
3-She loves music just about as much as I do.
4-She loves to write, and has a great imagination.
5-She is not easily discouraged.
6-She recognizes her shortcomings and works on improving herself.
7-She has the most amazing smile and bright, beautiful, and happy eyes.
8-She is a very responsible and loving sister.
9-She is a hard worker–one that I can always count on.
10-Everyone says that she looks and acts so much like her dad did when he was little, but I see SO much of me in her. I feel like I know her deep down. I can’t wait til she’s an adult, because I know we will be good friends.

Necco was kind enough to wake me up at 6:18 on Monday morning. She was eager to get things started. We have a tradition of opening presents before anyone goes to school, so that everyone is present for the presents. It would kill the kids to wait til after dinner for Dad to come home to open their gifts…..so we do it first thing in the morning instead.
Necco, my tom boy, was thrilled with her new basketball. She also got a new bike helmet….I felt kind of guilty about getting her such boring gifts, but she doesn’t play with toys anymore, and all she wants to do lately is play outside. She loved them. :)
We went to our favorite Salvadorian restaurant for dinner, and Necco ordered her very own T-bone. Before the dinner started, she asked how old kids had to be to get a meal from the “real” menu. She was delighted that there was no minimum age requirement.
At the end of the meal, the staff decorated her with a fancy hat and sang happy birthday. Where else do you get flan with a candle in the middle of it, and gobs of whipped cream and cherries for the eyes? KitKat, Reese, and I had a great time helping her finish that!
AJ had to take a turn with the hat. This is one goofy kid!
