Apple and I joined my photography buddy, Lisa, at Brookside Gardens today. We were a little worried when we saw buses unloading school children when we arrived, but luckily it’s a big enough park that we hardly noticed the other people.
Lisa and I got together specifically to take pictures. And we TOOK PICTURES! I snapped over 450 myself. We started out in the greenhouse….Apple was bored after the first 30 minutes, and so he watched a little bit of WonderPets on my iPod.
Meanwhile, this is what I was doing…..
I thought that these flowers looked like exotic birds!
Apple’s only request in the greenhouse was to go on the bridge. I’m afraid it wasn’t too exciting once he got there.
I wasn’t prepared for the variety of flowers outside. Amazing!
There were pots and fountains scattered amongst the flowers
Once outside, Apple came alive. He ran around looking at everything. He found a “penny fountain” and pulled us over to get a closer look.
The roses were next. The smell was incredible!
There is an admission-only section of the gardens with butterflies, and I wondered why more butterflies hadn’t “escaped” over to our part of the gardens. We saw several white butterflies, but they were way too fast for me. Here’s the only butterfly I caught.
Apple had to check each pool and fountain for pennies. No pennies here!
No pennies here, either, but an accidental cracker dropped into the water revealed something much more interesting…..FISH! I’ve never seen fish attack a cracker like these did. They acted like cats pouncing on a mouse, I swear!
Right above this path, we saw the most exciting thing of all….dozens of turtles and a SNAKE! It was sitting peacefully on one of the rocks down in the water.
Beautiful day!
