Family-Friendly Activities in Philadelphia #VisitPhilly

I love living close enough to Philadelphia to be able to travel there as often as I like. Philly is rich with history and charm, and is an ideal place to visit with kids.

Family-Friendly Activities in Philadelphia:

Here is just a handful of the MANY sites, attractions, and activities that are perfect for a family vacation in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Flower Show (March 1-9, 2014) – The Philadelphia Flower Show, the country’s largest indoor flower show, comes to the Pennsylvania Convention Center every March. The show features 10 acres of beautiful plants and cutting-edge designs.

Please-Touch Museum: The Please Touch Museum® is all about kids – it includes two floors of interactive exhibit zones, plus a fully restored 100-year-old carousel. Kids can experience hands-on fun amid Alice’s Wonderland, River Adventures and more. Located at Fairmount Park’s Memorial Hall.

Adventure Aquarium: The Adventure Aquarium features 8,500 animals, including sharks, hippos, sea turtles, stingrays, and hammerheads and more than two million gallons of water. Adventurous kids can roll up their sleeves to pet and feed stingrays, or touch shrimp, lobster, starfish, crabs and sharks.

Battleship New Jersey: Kids and parents alike will love exploring the Battleship New Jersey, most decorated ship in the nation. Families can take tours of the ship, ride the 4-D flight simulator, climb into the onboard helicopter and sleep in the sailors’ bunks as part of its award-winning Overnight Encampment program.

Liberty 360 3D Show: Benjamin Franklin leads visitors on an immersive, patriotic journey to discover the symbols of America’s freedom—from the bald eagle to the Statue of Liberty.

Philadelphia Zoo: The Philadelphia Zoo, situated on 42 acres, is home to nearly 1,300 animals, many rare and endangered. The whole family will love exhibits such as First Niagara Big Cat Falls, the McNeil Avian Center, the PECO Primate Reserve, tons of hands-on experiences and seasonal family-friendly events.

Camden Children’s Garden: The 4.5-acre Camden Children’s Garden has so much to offer for families, including Butterfly, Railroad, Dinosaur and Storybook Gardens, as well as a Fitness Garden where kids can crawl, climb and learn about healthy living.
