Apparently, all I am good for these days is cooking. The strangest thing happened to me while I have been sick these past few weeks. I actually want to cook. Either the pneumonia has done something to my head or I’ve been spending way too much time on Pinterest while I’ve been trying to rest.
(BTW…click on any of the pictures to be taken to the Butterfinger Blondies recipe…)
I’m going to have to go with the second option.
The problem is, as much as I love taking pictures of people and scenery….I stink at taking pictures of food. I realized the other day that I really need to find some food-specific photography props, just like I have for newborn photography. Oh wait. I guess those new bowls and plates would count as food photo props, wouldn’t they?
Just to give you a taste (nice pun, isn’t it?) of how bad I’ve gotten, I had 107 pictures on my camera from this week. 33 of those pictures were of my kids on Valentine’s Day. The rest are food.
I really need to find a food photography course so at least my food photos can be interesting and pretty….and not just pictures of my dinner.
Here are a few of the articles I found online (yes, this is what I am going to be reading this weekend!)

Oh, and in case you’d like to try those Butterfinger Blondies….I posted the recipe for you.

I love taking pictures of all kinds! I’m no pro but I feel like I’ve come so far since starting my blog. My biggest challenge is the limited amount of time you have when cooking or baking between each step and you only get one chance to get the picture if you are taking pictures of the steps. Plus, if you want the food to look “fresh out of the oven” you are limited there too!

Food photography is HARD….but those look really yummy to me!
Now I just need to find some cooking person to make them – so that I can eat them!
Cordial Chaos says
Yum! Looks good enough to eat! :)

I really need to find a seminar locally. OR….I could just attend a blogging conference or two. Yeah, I like that idea. :)
Lolli says
LOL! My kids know that I love taking pictures of THEM, but this picture-before-eating thing is all new to them. And I have become rather obsessed. :)
Lolli says
OK! Off to come share the post. :)

I took a food photography seminar but it turns out that I don’t have a fancy SLR camera so I didn’t get much out of the class because I don’t know how to change the aperture on my digital camera. Oh well…her pictures were delicious!
Lolli says
Yes! I heard from her last night. She’s having problems with her hosting or something. They are working on it and it is NOTHING like what happened last time, thank goodness!
Lolli says
That would be the clincher to my family thinking I am officially crazy. ;)

By the way, do you know what is up with Cecily? I went to look for her website and it is gone. I am a little afraid that she is having a repeat of what happened to her a year or so ago!

Yum those look so good! I write lots of food photography tips on my blog–if you’re interested, I just wrote this post chronicling a year of learning food photography and showed my set-ups and shared some tips!

Yes, I am too (addicted to Pinterest). I did find the recipe on Pinterest. I am cooking more than ever. It’s kind of amusing. :)

A hug always helps! :) I really am feeling much better, thanks!!

Wait, those have butterfinger candy in them? YUM.
Your photos of food look incredible! My kitchen is somewhat dark with inconsistent, so photographing in there proves to be challenging. Food can be very inspiring though!
All Things Chic says
oh – someone said once that taking picture outside in natural light is KEY to great food photos.
All Things Chic says
great tips! (and YUMM!)

I don’t have any words of wisdom as I’m still learning and fumbling all when it comes to foodography. ;-) It appears to be a lighting issue and yes, some props would definitely help. All I really know ow is that I’m hungry. :-D
Come and share you food photos at my Friday Food Fight! The linky will be up shortly!

I love Pinterest too! If you want to check out my boards (and waste more time), just search for Honey Mommy. :o)
I stink at taking pictures of food too. Whenever a photo challenge choses food as a prompt, I just groan. Maybe you can teach me what you learn too!

I LOVE photographing food. I swear I do it all the time.
I find the more simple the bowls, etc.. the better the photo.
Your pumpkin bars (?) look delicious! Is the recipe from Pinterest? I am SOOO addicted to that site it’s scary. LOL
Life with Kaishon says
Oh my goodness. That looks so delicious!
