AJ was playing so nicely this morning with his lincoln logs that it wasn’t until noon that we got out of the house to run errands and then on to one of our favorite places–the Parenting Resource Center. I will be sad when AJ goes to school (for multiple reasons!) and I no longer have an excuse to hang out at the PRC. The PRC is set up just like a preschool with two “teachers” who keep things in order, lead circle time twice a day, and stock the center with new play dough and crafts. The cool thing about the PRC is that parents stay and play with their kids. I always feel like a better mom when I leave. He gets to do the messy stuff that I don’t want to get out at home, he interacts with other kids, and I get to chat with other mothers. What an incredible RESOURCE other mothers are! It’s amazing what you can learn just by sitting down with women.
When we walked in the door today, AJ walked straight to the craft table. He got to spread glue all over a piece of construction paper and then stick on clipped Christmas ribbons. He concentrated oh-so-hard and was very proud of his creation. Well, he was happy with it until we were leaving. The center closed much too soon for him, and he had a bit of a meltdown on our way out the door. All was forgotten by the time we got home.
