This week I’m breaking away from my traditional Photostory Friday post (though I’m still participating with Cecily!) and bringing you a fun little Give Me Your Best Shot. You can show off any photos you like, but if you happen to have some fun/favorite pictures from the Summer, I’d love to see those today!
Summer in our house has been officially over for 4 days now. Four days into the new school year, and it already feels like we’ve been in school for months. The kids are loving their new classes, and I am loving this new freedom during the day, although honestly….I haven’t recovered yet from the feeling of being so behind on everything. I still have another week or two of catch-up before I can breathe easier. So bear with me as I have a slightly more jumbled post than usual. This is a sign of how full my brain is lately…
Today I had a special Me-Time consultation with the most amazing person ever. Not only did she know exactly what I should do with my hair to make it look better (I’m saving the hair cut for another day…) but she gave me a hand and neck massage with calming oils and a fun makeover. Get this–CandyMan noticed my hair within seconds of coming home! How’s that for a success??
A note to my readers in the Maryland/DC area: I have $10 off cards for any Aveda service at Anna’s Rockville location. If you want an amazing hair/hand/make-up/body experience with an amazingly talented girl, let me know and I’ll pass on the info!
Just to clarify (because everyone keeps mentioning my new haircut)….she just styled it. Haircut is coming (hopefully!) next week.
The kids have been enjoying a new toy that we got in the mail from Team Mom. My two boys can’t get enough of this scooter. Twizzler (for the first time ever!) has been doing tricks and stunts. When I asked him if he liked the two-wheeled Shox Scooter from Shred Sled better than the typical 3-4 wheel scooters we’ve had, he responded, “Well yeah. DUH!” I love that the Shox Scooter has shocks and a break in the back (easy to access with one foot). I predict hours of fun ahead!
Inside the house, the kids have been going crazy over the Moon Dough Magic Barnyard, also from Team Mom. I have seen Moon Dough in the stores before, but never had a reason to buy it. We’ve got plenty of playdough, I figured. I was wrong! Moon Dough is completely different! Hypo-allergenic and wheat-free, soft and marshmallow-like, Moon Dough does not stick to or stain material. Because Moon Dough never dries out, kids can use it again and again. And they have! For a toy to captivate kids from 5 to 11 is pretty amazing. I laugh every time someone brings it out and I hear (from the 11 year old) “Mom, AJ won’t give me a turn with the Moon Dough!” Even I love the feeling of squishing and molding it. It’s so soft!!
Finally, I am so proud of KitKat for auditioning today for a special choir at her high school. She sang solo in front of a group of people and was the only freshman who made the Women’s Ensemble Choir. Pretty cool, huh?!
What have you been up to? Hopefully your week has been slightly less FULL than mine…
Disclosure: I received the Shox Scooter and the Moon Dough Magic Barnyard from Team Mom for review purposes but the thoughts and experiences about the products are my own.

Sounds like things are going pretty good with everyone out of the house! You even got a new Lolli-got-her-groove-back cut that makes you look like the blog-lebrity I already knew you were:)! And your blog got a little makeover too! Somehow I can’t find the linky around here though. I’m slow when it comes to new things!

Love the cut. You look beautiful. And I am also mourning summer a bit, particularly since the bully incident yesterday. Sigh.
