I have a confession to make. I didn’t take many pictures this week. It was just one of those weeks. When I went through my pictures from the last 7 days, I found some rather boring photos. I had the pictures of my gutters that desperately needed cleaning (the pressuring of my husband finally paid off. I threatened to climb onto the roof myself if I needed to). And a few less-than-interesting outdoor night shots from the 4th of July. And so it was that this picture of an American flag was voted my favorite shot of the week. If nothing else, we have had the most incredible clear, dark blue skies this week.
Whenever I see a blue sky like this I remember a comment from a substitute teacher I had in 2nd grade. We were heading inside after recess and he looked up to the sky and said, “I remember when I was a kid. The sky looked like this all the time.” My childhood sky certainly wasn’t always clear, bright blue (it was more often smoggy and gray) but I will always think of childhood in San Jose, California when I see a clear blue sky.
