My favorite shot of from this week is certainly not the most technically proficient or beautiful picture, although the women in the picture are both proficient and beautiful. This is one of those occasions when my favorite shot became my favorite because of the story and the memories behind it.
There is a great group of bloggers out here in the DC area. Yesterday, a handful of us met at Joanne’s (aka Punditmom‘s) house to discuss the new book, Womenomics, with the book’s authors, Claire Shipman of ABC Good Morning America and Katty Kay of BBC. I had an interesting perspective during the discussion. I spent 12 years as a stay at home mom, and am now struggling to make the transition to being a work at home business owner. Their focus in the book is not to do more and have more, but to take control over the way we work. The book’s tagline is: “How to stop juggling and struggling and finally start living and working the way you really want.”
It hit me like a brick wall that I need to define some boundaries for myself. It’s so easy as a work at home mom to work all day long. It was the same way when I was a stay at home mom. There’s no beginning or end of the work day. It’s always computer time. So thanks to Claire and Katty, I have vowed to stay away from the computer between 3:00 and 8:00 and devote that time BACK to my kids.
So that’s why this picture makes me happy.
