Today I will stay inside my warm house and dream of chocolates. I am skipping my kids’ Valentine’s class parties for the first time since 2001. I am determined to kick this pneumonia, and I’m afraid it’s going to take a few more days resting at home before that happens.
I am crushed that I may have to send my husband and kids off to New York City without me on Saturday. We had a family day trip all planned out with train tickets I was given last year. I was so excited to finally have the chance to let my kids experience New York, but I realized today that a full day of walking outside is probably not wise for a recovering “pneumonia girl” (that’s what CandyMan has been calling me since Saturday).
Ah well. Such is life, and I’d rather have my health than a day in New York City.
I dug this picture up for my Valentine’s Day post on 5 Minutes for Mom and figured I’d share it here, too, along with a few of the old Valentine’s posts I found:

Any fun plans?

I spent the morning of Valentine’s Day at my Kindergartner’s party at school. It was a lot of fun, and helped me appreciate again what a wonderful school my kids go to. I have 2 more opportunities, and then no more Valentine’s Day parties at school. Just new memories of new occasions for the older kids.

So sorry to hear that you’ll probably have to skip the day trip in NY. :( Hope you get better soon, though.

As long as those sticky kisses are preceeded by warm hugs and followed by warm, sticky dessert, then this will be the perfect day. :)

Thank you!! I am recovering. it’s just a slow process (dang illnesses!). :) Happy V-day to you, too!

Jessica, this is my first time with pneumonia so I don’t even know what to expect. I definitely did NOT expect that I’d fall asleep and take a 3 hour nap on Valentine’s Day, but if that’s my gift, I will take it!! lol

I know about the kids getting old part. My older kids sometimes complain about not having the parties at school anymore (though they make up for it on the weekends!).

Thanks, Tara! I think I am going to have to be smart and stay away….but I just found out that we have some exciting plans that I can join them on next weekend! :)

Hope you get your lung capacity back! I had pneumonia this time last year…it’s no kind of fun.
And I have no plans really. My husband is away on business so I get to eat an entire box of chocolates by myself.

You poor thing! I hope you feel better soon.
This is the first year since 2001 that I don’t get to go to a school Valentine’s party, but not because I’m sick. It’s because my kids are old. My son’s grade doesn’t have parties any more, and my daughter’s grade doesn’t allow parents to the parties any more. Aw well…I’m enjoying my leftover Valentine’s scones at home instead today. :) Good luck getting better by Saturday.

Thanks! I tried taking some Valentine’s pictures of my kids before school today and they didn’t turn out quite as cute as that past one. ;)
