It’s National Follow Me Month (but apparently nobody told Blogger…..)
I’m sure that most of not all of you are aware by now that blogger had a few problems today. I was saddened to find that within an hour this afternoon, I had lost 19 of my followers. After a little research, I discovered that bloggers everywhere were having the same problem. So here is my attempt to pass on the info on how to resolve the situation. Apparently, we have not lost followers per se, but some of our followers are now listed as “anonymous” instead of “public”. I checked my own following list and in fact was anonymously following all of my favorite blogs. I was able to fix my end of the problem by switching “anonymous” to “public” (I first went to my dashboard, scrolled down to the blogs I’m following, and clicked the “manage” button).
So if you haven’t already checked, go to your dashboard and see if you have been switched to anonymous…..And if you are not already following me, why don’t you go ahead and do it now! It IS National Follow Me Month, after all. :)
PS–Here’s the official word from Blogger:
This is because
we have set these users to “anonymous” to avoid linking the profiles of Blogger and Friend Connect users without their permission. They are still following privately and will able to make themselves public again. After the official launch of the Friend Connect integration, we will communicate with the affected users and instruct them how to reset their relationship to public. To reiterate: the number of Followers has not changed, and we believe that the launch will improve the visibility of your blog and community. We will post more details on Blogger Buzz as the launch approaches.
