Keep Kids Entertained With the #LEGOChannel

Thursday, January 24, 2013 by Lolli

Today we woke up to snow on the ground. The last few days have had a single-digit low (when KitKat left for school on Wednesday morning, Weather.com said it was 9° outside).

That’s cold. And it means that we’re spending a lot more time indoors. I’m sure you can imagine what 7 people cooped up in a small 3-bedroom townhouse can be like. Either everyone is stepping on each other’s toes (with lovely fights ensuing), or I hear cries of “I’m bored! What can I do?”.

This week, I discovered something that I am going to be using to MY advantage to keep kids entertained, occupied (dare I say out of my hair?), and engaged. And I freely admit that I have been enjoying this as much as my kids…

LEGO® YouTube home What is this brilliant kid-tamer? The Official LEGO® Channel! I had NO idea what a wealth of entertainment it held, and how I could use it to keep my kids entertained…at home, in the car, in lines at the store. It’s all about creating YouTube playlists for your kids with videos you approve.

My kids LOVE YouTube, but from a parent’s perspective, it kind of scares me. There are lots of videos that I don’t want my kids watching (or even accidentally stumbling upon). I love that I can create playlists now with videos that are geared to them.

How to create a YouTube Playlist:

  • Visit Youtube.com/LEGO and watch one of your favorite videos
  • Click “Video Options”
  • Select “Add To Playlist”
  • Sign-In using your YouTube Login
  • Add your selected video to an existing playlist or create a new one
  • To prevent non-LEGO® videos from being recommended, build your playlist using only ?Official LEGO® Channel videos.

LEGO® Playlist The Official LEGO® Channel has over 500 videos to chose from, with new videos being added everyday and all from LEGO®, a name parents trust and kids know and love. Kids get to go behind the scenes, be inspired, entertained and see the newest LEGO® video shorts. And then they use that inspiration to go on to create even more.

LEGO® already has a bunch of playlists created, so it’s easy to find the videos that your kids will love, like LEGO® Star Wars™, LEGO® DC Universe™ Super Hereos, LEGO® The Hobbit™, and LEGO® DUPLO® Disney Princess™ to name a few.

LEGO® channel playlists Here’s one of my favorite videos, LEGO® STAR WARS™: Bombad Bounty (prepare to laugh…this is good entertainment!):

There is a lot of content on web; creating a playlist on the Official LEGO® Channel is a great way to ensure your kids are entertained and watching videos you can feel good about.

Visit the Official LEGO® Channel to build your own playlist to watch with your kids and then tell me about it below for a chance to win one (1) $1,000 gift card to buy your family’s favorite LEGO® products!
