Life. I am surrounded by life. Beautiful, wonderful, new life. As a mother and as a photographer, I get to experience the best moments of life over and over again. The excitement of a new baby, the anticipation of an engagement, the emotions of a wedding, the thrill of expecting a little one. I am experiencing the best of life.
And yet life at the moment is not what I had expected for my 36th year. Life as it is right now is not what I would have picked, and not what I would chose over again if I had the chance.
And yet, that’s life.
Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans. ~John Lennon
Despite my best plans, despite what I would like to be doing at this point in my life, as my oldest daughter starts high school and my youngest starts kindergarten, this is my life. For better or for worse, it’s mine.
And despite the fact that life is not I had expected, life is a blessing. Life is glorious.

i LOVE the pictures. she looks great–thanks again!!!
and i love that you wrote this post with C as the photo subject. she is living proof that life doesn’t go the way we plan… and while it was difficult dealing with years of “this isn’t how i saw myself at this point in my life”, just holding out and being faithful has its rewards :o) thanks for reminding me today!

Ah, friend. I feel you. I think holding hands over the internet and screaming for a few minutes sounds like a brilliant idea!!

Our lives are almost parallel – and certainly not what I would have planned – but wouldn’t change it for anything! I’m 38 – have 4 kids, my oldest is 18 – started college out of state this fall (boo hoo!), 2 boys, 12 and 10, and then our “surprise” 2 year old – yes, I said two – does that make you feel better :)
