One of the things I will treasure the most about this summer is the time that I’ve had one-on-one with AJ, my four year old. For some reason, time together in the summer feels completely different than time together during the school year. Possibly because there seems to be so much more (fun stuff) to do during the summer and we stay much more active and spend time out of the house.
Last week, thanks to Mom Central, AJ and I had the chance to try out something new on the menu at Wendy’s. Wendy’s has just debuted their new Boneless Wings. I had 3 choices:
Since I was sharing my meal with AJ (who, by the way, eats like a bird) I decided to stay away from the bold buffalo, although buffalo wings with some cool Ranch are pretty yummy. I ended up going with the honey BBQ. As soon as we sat down with the food, AJ asked, “Is this the kind of sauce that I like, or is it BBQ?” Oh, great, I thought. Should have gone with the Asian Chicken. Next time, for sure.
With AJ focused on the fries and the soda, I turned to the bowl of chicken. While the chicken was far from gourmet, it was tasty and I did notice that they had real white meat chicken inside every bite. No processed meat or pieces that were no more than lumps of fried dough (don’t you hate taking a bite and wondering if there was any chicken in there? There was none of that in these Wendy’s boneless wings). My only complaint was that the pieces of chicken had the appearance of chicken nuggets sloppily tossed in sauce. I think that has more to do with the particular store’s quality control (ie–sloppy employees) than anything else.
When we were done with our lunch–AJ’s fries and my chicken (ok–I confess–I ate some fries, too) we had to share a Frosty before heading to the library. I mean, who comes to Wendy’s without ordering a frosty?!
The frosty was the best part of the meal. Along with the fact that I was sharing it with AJ.
As we left, I said, “That was a nice lunch date, buddy!”
He replied, “Is a date when a boy and a girl eat together at a restaurant?”
He’s a smart kid.
Now you can show how smart you are by clicking HERE to enter with Mom Central to win one of 500 giftcards to Wendy’s so that you can also try out their new Boneless Wings. Good luck! (And don’t forget the Frosty!)
PS–I wrote this review while participating in a blog and giveaway campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Wendy’s and received a sample to facilitate my candid review. In addition, Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.
