We received an unexpected call and then a very welcome visitor today. Our old neighbor (I’ll call him Med) and one of our dearest friends (whose family now lives across the country from us. Sigh!) had a long layover at a near-by airport on his way to be deployed. What a wonderful surprise to be able to spend the afternoon with him, reminiscing about the good old days, when we would get together at night to play games while our little ones camped out together upstairs…..and our traditional Thanksgiving dinners together. Oh, how we miss them! I can still count on a birthday call from his wife every year (her birthday is the day after mine). It’s not the same as our birthday lunches together from those good old days, but I’ll take what I can get. CandyMan was almost ready to move the family across the country when our friend described the mountain biking trails behind his new house.
Not only is Med serving his country as an Air Force doctor, but his wife is holding the fort down at home, all while pregnant with her 5th baby. Both are heros to me. We’ll be thinking about and praying for both of them!
