My first baby was born in December 1996. For the next 10 years, my life was consumed by babies, diapers, bottles, breast, and baby food, doctors visits, and many late-night hours rocking children to back to sleep. I loved it, but it was hard work and a whole lot of information for my tired brain to keep track of.
I remember sitting in a doctor’s office when Reese was going through a ton of testing around her first birthday. She was healthy and active and ahead in her development. She was eating just fine….but she was not gaining weight. The doctors were worried. They gave her the lovely (and scary) “failure to thrive” label and sent us in for more testing.
I remember the doctor asking how often she ate, how long she ate, how often she wet and pooped her diaper…..and I simply couldn’t keep track of it all. She was my fourth child, after all. I had a *few* other things on my mind.
If only I had had the new {FREE} iPhone and iTouch app from Similac. The Baby Journal not only helps you easily keep track of feeding times and durations, diaper “results,” sleep trends and schedules, and growth charts, but (Love this!!) there are links to tips and articles from other parents right there within the app.
My favorite part of the app, and most definitely the feature I would have used most when I was nursing my babies, was the breast feeding journal section. It allows breast feeding moms to select the “start side” and how long you fed on each side. I can’t tell you how many times CandyMan teased me when I would grab and jiggle my breasts to see which side was next to nurse. Knowing me, if I had a baby now, my iTouch would be in my hand while feeding the baby, and it would be as simple as a click and a timer to keep track of feeding schedules.
The app is easy to use, visually appealing, and full of useful tools, including the ability to email journal entries to the doctor’s office, the babysitter, or dad.
It almost makes me want to have another baby.
But not really.
If, however, YOU are having a baby or have a child under 3, I would highly recommend downloading this free app from Similac. It will save you a ton of headache and make you look like Super Mom the next time you walk into the doctor’s office.
Disclosure: I was compensated by Collective Bias – a Similac partner – for my time to review the Similac Baby Journal App. All opinions are my own.
