– Waking up to a view like this every morning: Who can beat a view like this out the front yard?
– Not having to cook for an entire week. I don’t even have to think about cooking. And nobody complains about what we’re eating, either.
– Waking up at 7:00, showering, eating breakfast, and being out the door before 8:00. Isn’t that a mirable?!
– Speaking of showers, mom has a shower that I dream about for the rest of the year. Not only is it huge, but it has shower heads coming from the front and the back. If you’ve never showered this way, you’ve got to find a way to try it.
– Listening to a lecture with 6,000 other students, and then waiting in line to say hello to the teacher….and hearing him say, “Laura! You look just the same! How are you?!” It’s fun to see my old professors, particularly my old friend, Richard Holzapfel. I was his research assistant during my freshman and sophomore years, which also happened to be his first 2 years teaching at BYU. He’s now a big time lecturer….but he still remembers me.
Speaking of classes, I bumped into James Oneil Miner, a pianist and one of my favorite repeat lecturers here at Education Week. I gave me a big hug, held my hand while I talked with him, and then mentioned me in his class. *blush* An hour of listening to his piano music makes me think of my Grandma and Grandpa, and I look forward to relaxing and taking a break from note-taking when I attend his class.
– Relaxing in the spa after a long day of classes. Ahh!
– Having time to read. This week, I’m reading The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale.
– Having the chance to meet a few blogging friends who live here. Tomorrow, I get to meet Kim and Jyl. Woohoo!
– Spending all day with my mom. Being a kid for a week instead of the responsible adult. This, more than anything, probably, is what rejuvinates me the most.
And now, off to classes!
