I still can’t believe that we went to a park made out of recycled tires on a 90+ degree day with perfectly clear, blue skies. It was so hot! But going out and doing things with friends is better than sitting home doing nothing (even if you leave sweaty and stinky!)
I got to the park early and discovered Apple had fallen asleep in the back of the car, so I sat and read my book for a while. I love finding moments of peace in the middle of my crazy days! He woke up from his short nap in a happy mood and ready to eat lunch. Somehow, we avoided getting bit by all of the red ants crawling all over our picnic blanket. The water bottles turned out to be handy little ant-killers.
After lunch, we played! There must have been a 20 degree difference between the shady lunch spot and the full-sun black tire-floored playground.
Lexi is practicing her standing skills!
Look at Brooklyn’s eyes! This is the NEWBORN I photographed just a few months back. She has really grown!!
Melissa was eyeing the zip-line swing thing, and as soon as a group of KIDS left, we ADULTS took over. Whee!!
Krista went swinging with Brooklyn!! What a Mama! She also was a great advertisement for my wraps (she was wearing the wrap that I gave her)…a young grandma stopped her and asked where she got her great baby carrier. Krista just pointed to me and said, “She makes them!” Cool!
And here’s me swinging along too.
Apple tried several times. He was very brave, but a little short. Haha! Melissa caught this picture just as Apple took a tumble from the rope.
Apple kept asking me to lift him up on the “monkey things.” I lifted him up and left him there to take a few pictures. He had a panicked look on his face, but he held tight!
We took a little walk down to the lake, which was crawling with mosquitos and HOT. We didn’t last there long.
In the end, Apple was red-cheeked and orange-mouthed (from all of the gatorade he drank to keep cool).
