After showing off our slightly complicated Easter Egg decorating the other day, today I am ready to share the more traditional “dunk and dye” eggs that we also decorated this week.
Sadly, we have spent the majority of our Spring Break with 2 or 3 kids sick. Vacation is no fun when all you want to do is lie around on the couch. I’ve stayed busy with my first two photo shoots of the year this week, except of course, that now I’m busy with photo editing. And we’ve got a busy weekend ahead of us, with family coming in town (yay!), a baptism to get through, and Easter to pull off.
All I want to do is curl up on a lawn chair in the sun and read a good book.
Yes, AJ was the only one interested in dyeing eggs the traditional way this year. The other kids were either blowing out eggs, painting eggs, or making fancy chocolates during all of this. I’m wondering if my other kids have passed their egg-dyeing peak. Sad.

That’s what we’re doing tonite.
I am “forcing” my older kids to help, but I think they could care less as well .
Ugh.
It’s hard when we have to admit to ourselves that our kids are growing up…

We dip an egg in one color and then stick it halfway in another color….as many times as we want for a fun effect. And then we also had a kit that we kind of painted on with sponges. The dye was more dense than typical vinegar and water dyes.

I’ve only done it with a kit. I usually buy a few kits at the end of the season and save them for the next year.

This is what the kids want to do today. I was hoping you’d share a homemade recipe. I forgot to buy the kit. lol.

So even your simple eggs look totally cool. How do you get so many colors on each egg?
