OK–I had my wordless Wednesday picture. Now for my wordFUL picture. I was looking through older photos, and came across this one. It made me smile.
Not only do I love my family to death (just wish everyone was there for the picture) but this is one of the funnest and craziest memories that I have with them. We took a family cruise last December to celebrate my Mom and Dad’s anniversary. We left the kids at home and had an entire week to PLAY and enjoy each other without the responsibilities of being Mom and Dad all the time. Amazing experience. One I want to repeat as soon as possible.
Now let me preface this story with the fact that I am NOT a risk taker. I don’t like adventure. I don’t like heights. On this particular day, we left the cruise ship in Honduras and headed in a van up winding roads to a private ziplining outfit. How my brotheres and sisters convinced me to do it, I don’t know. I guess I figured it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. We strapped ourselves all up and headed for the canopies. I don’t think any of us REALLY considered what we were doing that day. It wasn’t until we were back on the ship that I thought about the fact that –HELLO!– I was swinging through the tops of the trees in a foreign country, standing on little metal platforms hundreds (thousands??) of feet up and my harness kept coming loose. Did it worry me? Nope. I just kept swinging. I even tried upside down. Craziness.
After we were done, our guides led us to a dirt road, where an old pick-up truck picked us up. We drove on the wet dirt (MUD) roads, bouncing the whole way, until we met up with the van (which couldn’t make it on those winding muddy roads) and then back to the beach with my mom and dad. See more pictures from that day HERE.
Would I do it again? In a heartbeat.
