6 Years Ago Today…..

Wednesday, March 11, 2009 by Lolli Leave a Comment

…I met a little girl. I knew her name long before I met her, and I knew I’d be meeting her soon. I just didn’t know when that day would be. You see, I met her 2 older sisters before I met her. I think she wanted to make sure we would not forget about her, that we would look for her, so she made her presence very well known to us when her sisters were babies. You see, we knew the sister’s names, too, before we met the little one, but we kept making mistakes and calling them by the little sister’s name.

Reese. She’s the little girl who didn’t want to be forgotten. She’s the little girl who turned 6 today.

We have a tradition of opening presents on the morning of a birthday before the first person leaves the house (because who knows when Daddy will be home, and what little kid want to wait ALL DAY long to open their birthday presents??). This morning, everyone came downstairs at 7:00 to watch Reese open her gifts.

KitKat was happily watching from the other side of the room. ;)

Reese has been asking for a “friend for her grown up doll” and wouldn’t you know it, I had bought one at Christmas time and didn’t gift it. Perfect!
Reese dressed like her doll, Alexis. Oh! What do you think about her haircut?
Let’s take a look back through the years…..
Reese was incredi-baby. She is 4 1/2 months old here. 4 1/2 months old!! Take a closer look. When most babies were laying on their backs staring up at the mobile, she was pulling HERSELF up to standing position on it. She was already crawling on all 4’s.

By her 1st birthday, she was running all over, talking, and causing great concern over at the doctor’s office. She was dangerously small, and had to go through tons of tests (including one time when she had to be put under while I was holding her…SO heartbreaking! And then, she wouldn’t come out of the anesthesia. SO scary!) The doctors were certain she had some sort of gastro-intestinal problems, and Celiacs Disease (since it runs in the family) was the main suspicion.

Despite the doctor’s worries, I trusted that everything would be ok. She was very active (too active for her own good), very sharp, happy, and otherwise healthy. The tests all came back normal.

Here she is at 3. Our only child to stay blond this long. Still attached to her Lamby that Mom and Grandma bought her when she was a few days old. Smashingly adorable, with a personality to boot.

I love my little Reese.

Happy birthday, Baby girl!

(Was that wordy enough for a Wordful Wednesday? Go see Angie at Seven Clown Circus for more!)
