Our family vacation to Upstate New York!
This past week marked the 75th anniversary of the Hill Cumorah Pageant, and we were there! The Pageant is performed for 7 days each July on an enormous 10 level stage set on a hill, with twelve-tower lighting, state-of-the-art sound system, Hollywood special effects, and a costumed cast of over 650 volunteers. The Pageant is 100% free (including parking) and simply amazing. CandyMan and I have traveled to upstate New York for the Pageant several times since we’ve lived on the East Coast, and each time we see the show is spectacular.
Here are some of the pictures I took during our quick visit to Palmyra and surrounding areas this week. Most of the sites are restored to how they looked and functioned in the early 1800s, and they are fascinating! Palmyra, New York, for those who are not familiar, was the home town of Joseph Smith and the location of much of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ early history.

Lol! I saw Reese stop and church the butter and I made her go back and do it some more so I could get a picTure of it. There were so many amazing artifacts, and unlike a museum, you could touch and walk through the houses. The kids loved that.

You should do it someday! It’s a gorgeous part of the country. As luck would have it, we got there on the hottest day since 1900. Lol

Thanks for sharing your trip, now I really want to take a trip! My sister and her family did a quick flyby trip on their way to their daughter’s wedding reception in upstate New York last week. They are hoping to return and spend a lot more time. The pageant is one I really want to see. A couple of people I know served their missions there and have amazing stories.

That’s some awesome memorabilia (is that what you call it). And great history.
And, look at your girl churning that butter.
