Michael Phelps is one of many incredible Team Visa athletes competing at the London 2012 Olympic Games, and I’m extra proud of the fact that he’s from Maryland like me. There’s nothing like cheering for a hometown boy in the Olympic Games.

Did you know that Michael Phelps holds the record for the most gold medals won in a single Olympic Games? Over his impressive career, he has won 16 Gold Medals and multiple world records, but one of the things I love most about him is his humanity, his commitment to not using performance-enhancing drugs, and his dedication to inspiring people to live a healthy, active lifestyle. Michael is simply a likable guy.

I love to picture Michael Phelps, who is such an amazing athlete today, as a mischievous young boy at the neighborhood swimming pool:
