The holidays are upon us, whether we’re ready or not. I haven’t even started my Christmas shopping yet, but I’ve been getting a ton of ideas and have a mental check list for some presents that would be perfect for each of my kids.
Although my kids’ Christmas lists are different every year, I’ve found that personalized presents are always appreciated and always stand out among the piles of toys and candies.
Several years ago, I was determined to create personalized gifts for each of my 5 kids. I shopped around for the perfect fabric for each of them – something that reminded me of their interests or personality. It wasn’t an easy task to find 5 different pieces of fleece that were ideal for each of them, and it was even harder to make the blankets at night after the kids went to bed without getting caught.
I was successful. I never got caught and the kids loved their unique gifts…and they still use their hand made personalized fleece blankets today.
Ideas for finding the perfect personalized holiday gifts
Personalized gifts are fun for kids and adults alike. Here are some of the personalized gift ideas that we have enjoyed giving and receiving over the years:
- Make something by hand that they can use for years…like a blanket. I chose fleece blankets when I decided to make blankets for each of my kids because all the required was cutting and tying knots. No sewing required!
- Get them personalized clothing – I especially love holiday clothing for kids. I wish my kids had had “Baby’s first Christmas” shirts or bibs. Personalized clothes and accessories are the types of baby items that they’ll hold on to forever as keepsakes.
- Use photos to create picture art, such as wall hangings, calendars, mousepads, and more. Photos never go out of style!
- Give fun personalized labels so that they can personalize all of their favorite things, like toys, clothes, backpacks and more.
- Order a personalized water bottle (or sippy cup or mug, depending on age). If you’d rather create something DIY, a small can of chalkboard paint goes a long way. Paint the outside of a mug with chalkboard paint and then gift it with a new set of chalk and some hot chocolate mix.
Bright Star Kids has a super cute range of kids clothing, from bibs to baby bodysuits to kids t-shirts (I only wish my teen could fit into their personalized shirts, because I’d totally get her an elephant t-shirt!). Order now so you’ll have it in plenty of time for Christmas!
