My son once asked me if TVs were invented when I was a kid.
Yes, son, in fact TVs have been around much longer than Mom.
I actually watched quite a bit of TV when I was growing up (a fact that my kids have a hard time accepting, since we currently don’t have TV reception at home). I remember anticipating shows and movies on TV for weeks in advance. When the anticipated movie would come on, we’d all gather around the TV and watch together (often with a big black bowl filled with popcorn).
I miss those days when we could all watch a show together – and all ENJOY it together. There are plenty of quality little kids shows, as well as a bunch of enjoyable shows that I wouldn’t want my kids to be watching…
I am thrilled to help announce the return of Family Movie Night.
Thanks to P&G and Walmart, we can once again gather with our families and watch enjoyable, wholesome TV together. And since it’s on network TV, it’s free.
The first Family Movie Night feature is called “Field of Vision“, and it premieres on Saturday, June 11 on NBC at 8pm ET.
I was able to watch a special premiere showing of Field of Vision with my two sons (ages 10 and 6) and can attest that we all enjoyed it. My 10 year old son couldn’t stop talking about it last night. It was especially relevant for me to watch Field of Vision with Twizzler, my 10 year old, since the movie addresses the important subject of bullying, something that Twizzler has had to deal with this year in school.
Field of Vision Synopsis
Through mysterious footage captured on an old malfunctioning video camera, Sinclair High School’s star quarterback, Tyler McFarland, learns that some of his teammates have been bullying Cory, a troubled new transfer student. Aware that sharing this information with the coach might get his friends kicked off the team and ultimately cost the school the state championship, Tyler must choose what’s more important: winning or doing what’s right.
As these events unfold, the camera also reveals more surprising footage to Tyler’s kid sister Lucy. She learns that Cory has a secret past, unknown even to him. Now Lucy must convince her mom (Faith Ford, Murphy Brown) and family that the camera’s revealing insight is not a product of her imagination as she enlists their help to find the answers Cory so desperately needs. It’s a compelling and intriguing story that shows both the challenges and rewards of doing the right thing even when it’s tough to do.

Lolli, we are SUCH proponents of a family movie night! We do one every other Sunday night, and typically do an on-demand film (often a Disney live-action) that has a surprisingly nice message to it.

Think what Walmart and P&G are collaborating on is a GREAT idea. (and I say that without influence by the agency for whom I work!)
I hope that we can watch that online somewhere – I’ve seen previews on hulu but we don’t get cable.
