It has taken me nearly a week to recover from the 12-year-old birthday sleep over party that occurred at my house last Friday.
Kidding.
It wasn’t really that bad. It was noisy, yes. It was messy, too.
But I was more than happy to play host to good kids having good, clean fun together.
I loved that they sat around playing music together (although I really did hear enough Heart and Soul on the piano to last a lifetime).
I love that they laughed together – but not at someone else’s expense.
I love that they cried together over the loss of one of their friends, who just 2 weeks ago was on the birthday list and now….is gone. And after they cried, I witnessed these young girls comforting each other and moving forward.
It was a good week. It was a good party. But I am still exhausted by it all.

Looks like Necco is really blessed to have such wonderful friends. I hate that they’ve experienced the loss of yet another friend, but relieved to see that they’re leaning on each other during those difficult times. Happy birthday to your not-so-little girl, Lolli! :)

It looks like such a wonderful, memorable party! (I will be hosting a sleep-over for a whole bunch of 16&17 yr olds tomorrow. ack!)
I’m so sorry they are dealing with the loss of a friend but glad they could come together to help one another through the loss.

Those parties remind me so much of my own childhood. 12years old and sleepover was just awesome. I’m sure the girls had a great time even though they had to deal with the hard part of life as well.
