As of Wednesday this week, I am married to a 40 year old man. I feel so old.
When CandyMan turned 30, I threw him a huge surprise party, which I pulled off flawlessly. It would have been a perfect birthday had he not just had hernia surgery a few days before.
Number 4-0 seemed to be calling for something more low-key, so we planned a movie and dinner date, just the two of us. When we got home, the kids were waiting with a hand-made peanut butter pinata (appropriate because CandyMan not only loves peanut butter, but he named his company PeanutButter, too.
We ended the night with homemade chocolate cupcakes, topped with freshly sliced strawberries and whipped cream.
It would have been the perfect night had he not just thrown his back out while mowing the grass the day before.
Luckily, you’d never be able to tell the pain he was in….
After two decade-birthdays enjoying the pains of getting older, he’s really not looking forward to 50…

I never would have guessed that you were 40. Not that I’m that far off or anything. I love that my husband is older. Getting used to HIS age makes my birthdays that much easier!

That looks like super great fun! And I am 42 now – over the shock of being 40 – now enjoying the freedom it brings.
I just turned 40 last month. Now I feel old. :-P lol Thank goodness I can still walk upright.
That pinata rocks. Looks like everyone had a blast. Tell hubbie to stop ruining his own birthdays by throwing out his back. He is really old, isn’t he? He’d better stay in bed the week before his 50th. ;-)
