Yesterday I turned 37. Who would have known that 37 would be my best birthday in years?
It started out like just about any other Saturday: soccer, soccer, and a little bit of flag football thrown in there.
My only complaint about the team sports this week was that I wasn’t able to sleep in after last night’s Wii party. The best part of the morning, though, was waking up to a totally clean house. I love that I could throw a party and not have a huge mess to clean up the next day.
Reese’s team won their very first soccer game. Reese was the goalie when her team scored their first goal. I caught a little victory dance…
After games were over, Reese and I headed to the store to get candy for my pinata (that Necco made for me…pictures below). I also picked up Monopoly, since a FEW of my kids have complained that they are no longer satisfied with Monopoly Jr. Ahem.
I think we have spent 6 or 7 hours this weekend playing Monopoly. I think it was a good purchase.
For my birthday dinner, I opted to go out as a family instead of on a date with CandyMan. It’s pretty rare for all of us to go out to dinner (it’s also pretty expensive…) and I wanted to celebrate with everybody.
We headed to our old favorite restaurant, where the servers know us (though they haven’t seen the kids in a while). Not only did we have a fabulous dinner of 3 full platters of fajitas and two enormous Steak Salvadoreno, but we got some authentic live Latin music right next to our table AND a birthday announcement in Spanish. Plus, Happy Birthday sung over the loud speaker, a huge (and heavy) sombrero, and flan with a birthday candle inside.
After dinner, the kids and I danced til we dropped with Just Dance 2. And broke the pinata that Necco had made and filled with more candy than we need before Halloween….
Happy, happy times.
Linked up once again to Adventuroo’s A Week in the Life.
PS – if you’re curious, Necco asked me what kind of pinata I wanted. I suggested a Lady Bug pinata. Once she had the shape worked out, it ended up looking more like a spider, so she made a spider pinata…without legs. Hey, we’re really concerned with the candy inside…
