Could it really be nearly a week ago that I sat around this table with my family and friends to eat this tasty meal?
Thanksgiving was nice this year. I was more relaxed than I am on a typical day. Even after hours of cooking, I was relaxed and content.
We have so much to be thankful for. One of those blessings is good friends.
Good friends who bring their Wii over for after-Thanksgiving play-time.
There’s Safire and her husband playing Rock Band with Twizzler and Reese. Can you spot my sleeping husband??
Perhaps the most exciting part of the night, and the thing that will stay etched in my memory when I think back on this Thanksgiving is this:
After our dinner had had a chance to digest a little, we pulled out the desserts. I had made apple pie, pumpkin pudding cake, and pumpkin pudding. And of course, I had bought plenty of vanilla ice cream to go along with those desserts. Wouldn’t you know it, but everyone wanted (only) ice cream, and a few people had root beer floats.
AJ, who is strangely allergic to root beer, asked if he could have a ginger ale float. I poured his cup, and then heard these words:
“Ooh! This is so exciting! This is my FIRST float!”
Poor kid had never tasted a root beer float. He loved his “ginger float.” I fear we’ve started a new trend in our house.
