Affordable Gourmet? Yes, It’s Possible!

Wednesday, September 25, 2013 by Lolli 13 Comments

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Kroger® Private Selection®. All opinions are 100% mine.

On any given day, even when I've neglected my menu planning and desperately need a trip to the grocery store, you can find the following four ingredients on hand: eggs, cheese, dried pasta, and some kind of vegetable (I'm not promising that it will be a fresh veggie, though!).

And while I am technically capable of preparing a dinner with the ingredients I've always got on hand (in addition to staples like flour and oil and spices and such), our meals would be pretty bland if I didn't plan some meals ahead and make a few trips to the grocery store each month.

My kids would love it if I served grilled meats and and a veggie tray every night (I suppose I shouldn't complain that the kids love eating raw vegetables, right?) – they are always requesting things like steak and freshly baked ham. They'd be in heaven if I had sliced cheese and crackers on hand at all times.

In other words, they have gourmet tastes.

Sometimes I want to go beyond the ordinary and serve something a little more fancy and beyond the eggs, cheese, pasta and vegetable staples. I admit – I've got premium tastes even if I don't always want to go to the effort of preparing premium dishes for the family.

Thank goodness for options like Private Selection®, is a premium private label brand carried exclusively at the Kroger® Family of Stores (including it's affiliated stores – Baker’s, City Market, Dillons, Fry’s, Gerbes, Pay Less, QFC, JayC, King Soopers, Owen’s, Ralphs, Smith’s and Fred Meyer).

Oh man that brownie/cake thing looks amazing! We always have some sort of chicken {it’s the only meat I eat}, salad, fruit to snack on & some sort of energy/granola bars for my husband on his way to work at 4AM.
